3 47944 Seekers of the Light can be performed in several ways: 1. Perform as a complete cantata, with narration as written. The narration can be spoken by one, two or more narrators as desired. 2. Perform with added drama. The Drama Companion Guide (00-47951) is available separately. 3. Since "seeking the Light" is a theme of the cantata, using candles as a symbol of the Light of Christ is an obvious choice and option. Placing lit candles throughout the sanctuary during the performance will heighten the theme of light. Consider having the narrator(s) light additional candles throughout the presentation as the different "seekers of the Light" are presented in the narration. 4. Although the work's 30-minute length makes it easily prepared and presented, for those churches desiring a longer presentation, additional anthems and carols can be interpolated as follows, resulting in an approximately 45 minute work. Additions are indicated in italic: Prelude Sing We Now of Christmas People, Look East (arr. Howard Helvey) (00-46503) Prepare! Brazilian Carol (Patti Drennan) (00-9261237) How Great Our Joy! (Carol) Come Near to the Manger Angels Shout the News Tonight It Came Upon a Midnight Clear (Carol) Hurry to Bethlehem! Silent Night, Holy Night (Carol) Seekers of the Light Hark! The Herald Angels Sing (a Concertato) (arr. Patrick M. Liebergen) (00-11424) Behold! Go Tell! Shine! Postlude (of your choosing) PERFORMANCE NOTES
