68 PAUL: I am named Paul! STORYTELLER 8: He was a follower of Jesus. PAUL: I am a follower of Jesus! STORYTELLER 7: He traveled all over the world. PAUL: I travel all over the world! STORYTELLER 8: He told people that Jesus was the Son of God. PAUL: Hey, everybody, Jesus is the Son of God! STORYTELLER 7: O.K., I think they get the point. PAUL: O.K., they get the point! (The STORYTELLERS give Paul a look.) PAUL: Sorry. STORYTELLER 8: Now there were some religious leaders who didn't like what Paul said about Jesus. RELIGIOUS (standing and pointing at PAUL) Boooo! LEADERS: STORYTELLER 7: In fact, they got so mad, they had him arrested and thrown into prison. HIGH PRIEST: Bring on the prison! (We hear a police siren as a group of CAST MEMBERS stand and form a line across the stage, holding forearms to suggest the door or front wall of a prison cell. PAUL stands behind the wall facing the audience as though locked in the cell. The two CAST MEMBERS directly in front of PAUL, barring his way, are girls; and PAUL holds on to their arms as though they are the bars of the cell door. The PRISON GUARD enters and stands to one side of the door holding a spear.) STORYTELLER 8: The prison was strong. There was no hope of escape. PAUL: It's hopeless. These bars are as thick as a young girl's arm. STORYTELLER 7: Paul was locked away for a long, long time. RELIGIOUS Two and half years! LEADERS: STORYTELLER 8: But all during that time, Paul told people about Jesus. PAUL: (to the PRISON GUARD) Pssst! Hey—Mr. Guard. PRISON GUARD: Who, me? PAUL: Yeah. You want to hear something really wonderful? (PAUL gestures the PRISON GUARD closer and whispers in his ear.) For Preview Only
