THE CROSS THAT HE CARRIED
Carrying His own cross, He went out to the place of the Skull
(which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). ( John 19:17 NIV)
Love's redeeming work is done!
God the Father, the Eternal One, has made the world right through His son, Jesus, the
Messiah,
Image of the invisible God,
Living Word.
Just three days past and this living Word stood silent in the face of His accusers.
Now, in the predawn darkness of night, in a garden, the One who is before all things, is
betrayed.
The Bread of Life is broken.
This One who is the brightness of God's glory endures the shame of the cross and is laid in a
grave.
The sky grows dark in sorrow for the Son is gone and night falls on a different world.
Oh, surely, He carried our sorrows,
Was pierced for our transgressions,
And crushed for our iniquities,
And the price for our redemption was paid on the cross that He carried.
