65/2069&70L-77 77 Optional Introduction: A pastor or a lay person can offer a brief meditation at this point in the cantata, if desired. Otherwise, the cantata can proceed with a pastor, choir member, or lay person reading the final monologue. Monologue: Pastor, Choir Member, or Lay Person When did you first meet Him, and what was it like? How did He come, when He came? Was it a quiet voice or an eruption of angels in the sky? Did you know who He was when you saw Him? Were you afraid? Were you full of hope? When did you first meet Jesus, and what was it like? This is a season to remember His story: the prophecies that pointed to His coming, His birth, His life; that God himself found a way to come and be with His people. We remember that Jesus did not live a life apart. His coming affected everyone. He changed the lives of everyone around Him. Ours, too. And so, this is a season also to remember our story. His impact upon our lives. The darkness, the doubt, the fear, the unworthiness, the self-sufficiency that have been ours; and the light, the good promises, the comfort, the favor, and the guidance that are ours because of Him. We come this season, along with all these people who loved Him – Zechariah, Mary, Joseph, Simeon, a Shepherd, the Wise Man – to Bethlehem. We lean over the side of the manger, and behold Him. We come full of joy. We come full of hope. We come and adore Him, Christ the Lord!
