CHRIST IS RISEN
A Choral Suite for Holy Week
NARRATOR: As they approached Jerusalem … Jesus sent two of his disciples,
saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find
a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here."
When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it.
Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had
cut in the fields. ose who went ahead and those who followed shouted, "Hosanna!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!"
(Mark 11:1-2; 7–10 NIV )
SONG: Hosanna
NARRATOR: en came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover
lamb had to be sacrificed … When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined
at the table. And he said to them, "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with
you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in
the kingdom of God."
After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, "Take this and divide it among
you. For I tell you I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom
of God comes." (Intro to Remembrance begins) And he took bread, gave thanks,
and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "is is my body given for you; do this in
remembrance of me." (Luke 22:7, 14–19 NIV )
