Here is a beautiful and creative adaptation of the familiar theme from Dvorak's "New World" Symphony. This arrangement is just what you need for that ballad spot for any performance. Written as a trumpet or flugelhorn solo feature, it works equally well if you want to feature an alto saxophone soloist. The frequently changing harmonies and flowing counter lines keep things interesting, and the limited ranges and easy rhythms keep things simple. No worries here, this one is highly recommended! 10607076 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . E 48.00 Goodbye My Heart—Mike Smukal. A haunting lyrical melody, lush voicings and dynamic contrasts are but a few of the winning features of this alto sax feature. This ballad at an accessible grade level also has some spots where the full band really sparkles and a chorus where the lead trumpet shines and gives the soloist a little break. The solo is entirely notated and changes are provided for embellishment or improvisation if desired. This chart is a winner! Highly recommended! 10011928 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . Kris Berg has composed a beautiful, sensitive and mature solo feature for B-flat, E-flat instruments or trombone. The ensemble is equally important in this setting at around 74 bpm that transitions from the ballad style to a double-time section with the soloist and then back to the ballad style. While the solo part is written, there are ample opportunities for improvisation. The lead trumpet range is to written high C. A nice modulation leads to a more improv-like section for the soloist and a piano solo break leads to a full band feature section. Highly recommended! 10011959 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 52.00 H My Funny Valentine—Richard Rodgers/ arr. Bill Holman. As originally recorded by the great Charlie Mariano with the Stan Kenton Orchestra, this is a must-have ballad feature for alto saxophone. Let your alto player (or trumpet...parts provided for either) shine on this popular standard! Instrumentation: 5-5-5-4. 10076371 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . MA 55.00 Night Mist—Larry Neeck. With a haunting melody, this minor-key ballad is the perfect feature for promising alto saxophone or trumpet/flugelhorn soloists. The featured solo part is fully written, although some embellishment by the soloist is an option. The well-scored ensemble provides solid support for the soloist, and the band also has its moment in the spotlight with a lush interlude.
