48 MITCH: (applause, cheering) Please join us after the extravaganza for red and green fried chicken inside the town hall. MAYOR: Well, that really was something! Great job, Mitch! (kids clap) ( ; SUZY: MAYOR: SUZY: MAYOR: Christmas texting alert) Ooo, we have fifteen new postings on our "Extravaganza" website . . . great work, everyone! Keep plugging away at making Christmas even bigger! (entering, about to burst) Mom, are you ready to see my secret? (sighing) Honey, can you just tell me what the secret is? Nope. (whispering) It's a secret! Max? ( ' MAYOR: CANDIE: Max looks at her, blankly; he doesn't respond) MAYOR: You wouldn't consider texting me, would you? SUZY: (giggling) Mom! Okay, okay. I'm all yours after I judge this next entry. Now what do we have to look forward to, Candie? (Suzy and Max walk off stage) For our theme this year I picked the wise men. We have a couple of surprises in store for you, and I think you'll be very impressed with our display. Presenting . . ."Wise Men Wonderland." (kids applaud) (music begins to "I Wanna Be Wise") KID 1: KID 2: KID 3: "After Jesus was born in Bethlehem . . . Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw His star and have come to worship Him. They went on their way, and the star they had seen went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed! On coming to the house, they saw the child and they bowed down and worshipped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh."
