Douglas E. Wagner. The keyboard music of English composer William Byrd (1543-1623) has long been regarded as some of the most representative works produced during the late Renaissance period. The Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, the quintessential source of music for this idiom, is also the source of the three Byrd titles included in this suite: The Bells; John and Sellinger's Round. 10739963 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 49.00 10739964 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 9.00 H William Tell Overture (Finale)Rossini/arr. Dackow. One of the most famous of all overtures, thanks in part to its use as a TV theme. While somewhat challenging, there are optional easy string and percussion parts included that make this a very useful edition. What a concert opener this would make! 2172062 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 Wish Liszt (Toy Shop Madness)arr. Bob Phillips. From the fabulous Trans-Siberian Orchestra show, "A Lost Christmas Eve," this piece will rock your holiday concert while your students practice their hooked bowings. Though greatly enhanced by adding a rhythm section and electric instruments, the piece can be played by strings alone. This is not your grandfather's Liszt music! 10348579 String Orchestra, Percussion Req . . . . . . . . . . . 61.00 Classical Selections Medium H The Abduction from the Seraglio (Overture) W.A. Mozart/arr. Hoffman. From the comic opera filled with pirates, Turkish princes, kidnapping and daring rescues, Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio is the piece of music that generated the (possibly fictional) "too many notes" story. It is written in the Turkish "janissary" style, a style of music that fascinated Europe at the time. In this arrangement, the right hand of the piano is frequently written 8va to help re-create the piccolo that figured prominently in the original. 10185412 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 10185413 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 n AdagioSaint-Saens/ Emile Bernard & Joseph Goodwin. This movement from the popular symphony is filled with the composer's unique harmonies that move slowly but inevitably to the final cadence. There are some brief solos throughout the orchestra as well as divisi passages in the cellos and basses. 10523532 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 32.00 10523533 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 n AdagioThomaso Albinoni/arr. Hoffman. Finally, an arrangement of Albinoni's most famous work that can be played at your group's level. This achingly beautiful music is certainly one of the high points of all Baroque music. Give your strings a chance to play this one! 2481828 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 10004522 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 l AllegrettoLudwig van Beethoven/arr. Shirl Jae Atwell. Allegretto from Piano Sonata Op. 9, No. 1 is the second movement from the sonata in G major. It comes from Beethoven's early years and showcases the beautiful simplicity, warmth, and lyricism of his compositional genius. It is like a minuet in structure and style. 10758246 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 10758247 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 7.00 H Allegretto (from "The Creatures of Prome- theus")Ludwig van Beethoven/arr. Rick England. Absolutely perfect for cross-curricular study in middle school or high school! Prometheus, through trickery, stole fire from Zeus, gave it to mortals and was punished daily for eternity for his crime. Beethoven's melody itself has a bit of trickery and a good deal of moxy as it weaves through each section of the orchestra. The story and Beethoven's marvelous music will provide good discussion among the players and even your audience. 10280397 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 49.00 10280398 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 7.00 Allegretto GraziosoAntonin Dvorak/arr. Sieving. Here's the 3rd movement from "Symphony #8," one of Dvorak's most famous works and it certainly carries his penchant for memorable melodies! Allegretto Grazioso, is actually based on a song from an earlier opera, and the coda in a faster tempo recalls the Slavonic Dances. These infectiously joyous melodies will be loved by students and audiences alike. 10015096 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 56.00 10015097 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 7.00 AllegroSigr. This arrangement reduces some of the technical demands without compromising the artistic integrity of the original. 10512552 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 10512553 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 AllegroG.P. Telemann/arr. Robert Sieving. Wonderful for teaching Baroque style and bowing concepts, this piece features limited third position for the violins, cellos, and basses. Violas share in the thematic materials with string basses mostly sharing the basso continuo line with cellos. 10594921 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 49.00 10594922 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 9.00 Allegro BarbaroBela Bartok/arr. Mozart/arr. John Caponegro. Containing selected themes from the first movement of Symphony No. 41, this Grade 4 arrangement of Mozart's last symphony clearly shows his brilliance. Mozart's adventurous approach to the material paves the way for Beethoven and other symphonic composers to follow. 10752480 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 10752481 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 6.00 4 Allegro from "Serenade No. 1 in D"W.A. Mozart/arr. Robert D. McCashin. This delightful Serenade in D was completed in 1769, when Mozart was a mere 13 years of age (an ideal fact to share with young students)! The first movement, even though composed at such a young age, provides challenges for every musician in the ensemble and is musically appealing to players and audience. 10752880 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 10752881 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 Allegro (from "Sinfonia No. 6 in G Minor") J.C. Bach/arr. McCashin. Ideal for a concert opener or closer, this energetic work features strong rhythms and vibrant harmonies while the true genius of Johann Christian Bach shines through. Conductors have the freedom to choose a tempo that fits their ensemble without losing the work's engaging nature. Certain to be a favorite with performers and audiences! 10366786 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 10366787 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 4 Allegro from "Symphony No. 17"W.A. Mozart/arr. Steven J. Campbell. Mozart's Symphony No. 17 was composed in 1772 when he was just 16 years old. Originally for oboes, horns and strings, this string orchestra arrangement of the first movement has maintained the composition's original spirit while making it more approachable for students. It's a wonderful piece for teachers who are working on Classical style and technique. 10696522 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 10696523 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 7.00 H Allegro in DVivaldi/arr. Frackenpohl. In this fine arrangement of Vivaldi's "Concerto in C for Two Trumpets," the solo trumpet lines have been transferred to first and second violins. It's a stirring adaptation which retains the characteristic "trumpet" sound of the original, and a delightful concert selection for string orchestra! Recorded by Michigan State University Orchestra on the CD, Teaching Music Through Performance in Orchestra, Volume 1 - Pepper # 5973728. 2276202 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 35.00 4 Allegro Moderato from "Symphony No. 3" Camille Saint-Saens/arr. Deborah Baker Monday. This movement of the famous "Organ Symphony" includes two of the most memorable themes ever penned by Saint-Saens. This arrangement includes the highly energetic string theme and the beautiful fugue based on his four-note theme which cycles throughout the entire symphony. The two contrasting sections of this arrangement offer two extremes of bowing style: one requiring heavy strokes at the frog and the other using legato, expressive, full bowing. 10752882 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 10752883 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 n Allegro SpiritosoW.A. Caputo. Beethoven's captivating melody that begins this Andante is one of the most famous cello/viola melodies ever written. This "strings-only" edition allows the ensemble to experience even more of Beethoven's melodic genius, while evening out some of the complexities of the original opus. The result is a respectful look at the German master that developing groups and their audiences will enjoy. 10352421 String Orchestra. . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 10352422 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . 10.00 n Bacchanale (from "Samson And Delilah") Camille Saint-Saens/arr.
