Fivefold—Michael Oare.
As the title implies, this remarkable composition contains
several references to the number five. The 5/4 meter is an
obvious connection; more subtle is the clever and prominent use
of the interval of a fifth. Also, remarkably, only five different
pitches are used except for two measures near the end. Despite
using a single tempo throughout, the colorful variety in textures
and moods are especially appealing.
