Here's a swingin' jazz classic played around 156 bpm with written suggested solos provided for alto sax 1 and trumpet 2 with cues for piano and trumpet 1. The sax soli, drum fills, a few familiar quotes, along with well-notated rhythm section parts all come together to create a fine chart that will make developing groups shine. A nice swing chart done well! 10997198 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 48.00 e I'm Getting Sentimental Over You—George Bassman/arr. Mark Taylor. Long recognized as the signature song for the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, here is a beautifully arranged setting for young jazz ensembles. In a slow Basie-style swing, this chart features plenty of full ensemble scoring, modest brass ranges, a solo for trumpet, and a brief sax soli in double-time feel. 10960662 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 45.00 l It Had to Be You—Isham Jones/arr. Mark Taylor. In classic Count Basie style, Mark Taylor's well- crafted arrangement of this familiar standard is set in a medium-slow swing style and features the full ensemble perfectly scored to sound rich and full. In contrast, a short piano solo is interspersed that can be played as written or ad lib. A great change of pace for contest or festival! 11171986 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 45.00 e Lil' Hefty—Zachary Smith. Ideal for young jazz bands, this moderately slow swinger is a tribute to legendary composer Neal Hefti. Lil' Hefty is a melodic chart with well-noted articulations, written-out rhythm section parts, and written melody solos for trumpet and piano, all at about 80-92 bpm. The trumpet 1 range is to G top of staff and is playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentation. Here's a great little chart for change-of-pace programming and teaching an important jazz style! 10997186 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . E 42.00 He Moanin'—Charles Mingus/arr. Andrew Homzy. Here's a playable yet very effective arrangement of this signature Mingus composition. E 40.00 H Sing, Sing, Sing—Louis Prima/trans. Mike Lewis. Here it is...perhaps the most recognizable swing tune of all time! This incredible transcription is as close as you're going to come to the original (which included clarinet and less than a full compliment of brass). This chart is scored for a standard 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and rhythm, but aside from that, it is the original as played by Benny Goodman. Every lick is there, including all the Gene Krupa drum breaks! This chart is a must for every big band's library! 2411486 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 60.00 e Swing Thing—Carl Strommen. Based on the chord changes to It Don't Mean a Thing by Duke Ellington, Swing Thing is the perfect chart to introduce beginning jazz groups to the swing style. The solo section is playable by any instrument, with solo sheets provided in all keys along with scales to assist students with improvisation. Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentation, optional parts are included for flute, clarinet, horn in F, tuba and vibes parts. A solid teaching chart by a master composer, this is highly recommended! 10985480 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . E 42.00 e Take a Break Blues—George Shutack. Many of the famous Count Basie charts were built on riffs or short melodic ideas that were repeated several times over the blues progression. This swing original at the very easy level is the perfect vehicle to introduce young players to this concept. It features safe and solid ensemble writing, a bluesy sound, and an effective shout chorus. Scored for only four horns with rhythm section and expandable to full big band instrumentation, written or improvised solo sheets for all are included, along with optional parts for flute, clarinet and horn in F. Take a break and check it out! 10985482 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . .VE 42.00 He Take the 'A' Train—Billy Strayhorn/arr. Vince Gassi. This chart swings all the way and is very playable by a young jazz ensemble. Arranger Vince Gassi offers a fresh take on this classic, yet captures the essence of this well-known Strayhorn composition made famous by Ellington. It's scored exactly right for younger players... not too difficult but with fun-to-play parts. With brief written solos for 1st alto sax and 1st trumpet, and easy ranges, it also has plenty of dynamics to teach. A superb chart you will play for years to come! Optional reduced or expanded instrumentation. 10066743 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . E 42.00 BLUES & Swing THE PEPPER GUARANTEE Return anytime for full credit. Satisfaction guaranteed.
