Arranger Mike Kamuf scored this hip, funky Latin-rock tune for younger players. Ideal for this level, it features three chords, a repetitive groove, catchy melody and a hot bari sax part. There are written solos for tenor sax and trumpet, and the lead trumpet range goes to a top line F with optional G on top of the staff. This chart will also sound great with optional or expanded instrumentation. This is a superb chart from beginning to end. Highly recommended! 10028077 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 48.00 e Caracas—Lou Donaldson/arr. Terry White. This Terry White chart on a relaxed Lou Donaldson bossa nova favorite is just right for young jazzers. Brief written or improvised solos are for trumpet, trombone and alto sax. Played around 136 bpm, it has a catchy melody with great harmonies, easy brass ranges, and lots of optional parts to include flute, clarinet, and vibraphone. It's also playable with optional reduced instrumentations. Great for change-of-pace programming! 10867416 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . E 42.00 e Caravan—Duke Ellington/arr. John Berry. Here's a distinctive arrangement for beginning jazz groups on one of Duke Ellington's most recognizable tunes. One of the featured works in the 2014 movie "Whiplash," it combines the styles of Latin and big band swing and is a marvelous introduction to the Duke for young jazzers. Arranged for full jazz ensemble, it's also playable by as few as 3 saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone, piano, bass and drums. 10023039 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . .VE 40.00 Firewalker—Dean Sorenson. Firewalker begins with a tension and release sound by the horns alone, and eases into a driving samba groove. The features include moderate ranges, notated rhythm section parts, an open solo section, and options for reduced or expanded instrumentation. The solo section is for as many players as wanted and features cued backgrounds. Sample solo sheets in all keys are included for aspiring jazz musicians. The trumpet 1 range is to written F top line, and there are options for reduced or expanded instrumentations with the included optional parts. Made famous by Santana, and loaded with Latin- American spirit, this chart is perfect for teaching Latin style, while the simple chord structure takes the mystery out of improvising. Build a stronger understanding of Latin jazz with this exciting and authentic cha-cha with a Cuban flair and laid-back feel. Pantalones Malo features plenty of auxiliary percussion, an accessible solo section, clear articulations, and interesting parts for all. The solo section has suggested note choices included in each instrumental part. (from "Oliver!")—Lionel Bart/arr. Mark Taylor. One of the signature songs from the musical "Oliver!," this tune offers a wealth of opportunities for melodic and harmonic deve- lopment. Adapted here as a samba, Mark Taylor's powerful arrangement opens with a duet for trumpet and alto, followed by feature spots for saxes and solos for alto and trumpet.
