L Windy Nights—Greg Gilpin. Rich with anticipation
and mystery, and overflowing with rhythmic
energy, this creative setting of the Robert Louis
Stevenson text is an excellent choice for concert
or festival. Interesting triplets and dotted rhythm
passages repeat in the choral parts and the piano
accompaniment as they represent the sound of
horses' hooves as they "gallop about" through the
windy night. Exciting!

lL Fruhlingsjubel—Joachim Raff/arr. Jeremy
Wiggins. The name Joachim Raff is known
to many of us as the composer of works for
piano. The research of editor Jeremy Wiggins
tells us that there are hundreds of other works
including many for choirs. Fruhlingsjubel, taken
from his Op. 198, is a characteristic of Raff's
energetic secular compositional style. A great
representation of choral writing from the period
by a lesser known composer.

Ht William Tell Overture—Gioacchino Rossini/arr.
Julie Eschliman. Rossini would be amazed by what
Julie Eschliman has done with his famous piece!
It's hard to keep a straight face while singing this
hilarious novelty arrangement for better choirs.
Sung entirely on syllables which imitate the sounds
of the original orchestral score, this is tongue-in-
cheek humor at its best! Awesome when performed
a cappella, but equally impressive with the optional
piano accompaniment, this will earn a standing
ovation! Very highly recommended!
