l Take the "A" Train—Billy Strayhorn & Ellington/
arr. Don Sebesky. Of all the arrangements done
of this iconic Strayhorn/Ellington standard, Don
Sebesky's chart, written for the Maynard Ferguson

as one of the best, most creative, and challenging
versions. This compliment to the chart has been
scored for standard big band instrumentation (five

move your band and audiences!

wind ensemble overtures. Adventures includes a rubato
introduction, a Baroque bridge, a bass melody, and a
huge ending, all set to a driving rock groove in 6/4, felt in
two! Improvised solo space for lead alto on soprano sax
includes suggested scales. Optional woodwind doubles

Pah-Dah-Pah-Dah—Kris Berg. As performed by Kris
Berg & The Metroplexity Big Band from This Time/Last Year
featuring Wayne Bergeron on an aggressive, high-energy
Afro-Cuban romp! This chart grabs your attention from the
very beginning as it weaves its way through modal sections
of heavy Latin groovin'! Solo space for tenor sax, trombone,
drums, and trumpet make this a great chart to feature
several performers. Comes in 5-5-4-4 so you can move
your lead trumpet soloist out front. Great showstopper!

Perspective—Kris Berg. Perspective is a modern
modal medium-swing chart with some additional styles
thrown in for fun. The opening bass ostinato pattern is
based on a Yes tune, Owner of a Lonely Heart! Over
this, the melody is stated with various instrument color
combinations. Improvised solo space for tenor sax 1 and
trumpet 4 is primarily based on the Dorian mode and
includes suggested scales. The chart dives into a modern
wind ensemble section after the solos before it recaps the
melody on its way out. Part of the Metroplexity Big Band
series, this chart is highly recommended!

for a contemporary guitarist. A quirky funk melody over a
blues chord progression makes the perfect funk chart for
any festival, contest or concert. The solo space could be
for guitar, tenor sax 1, piano and/or bass. There are no
woodwind doubles and the lead trumpet range goes to F.

is a gorgeous, lyrical Metheny-style tune in 6/4. Featured

material. The solos are for flugelhorn and drums along with
a challenging written piano part. There are optional easy
flute doubles and the lead trumpet range goes to F-sharp.
