Although originally an Italian song composed in
1960, Estate has become a jazz standard thanks
in part to the bossa nova version recorded by Joao
Gilberto. This smooth version for developing players
features a lyrical style of playing and a medium-
tempo bossa groove.

Kamuf. Jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard has sadly
passed on but his wonderful music lives on. This
wonderful jazz standard is masterfully arranged
and features a haunting melody with an alternating
bossa and light funk groove. The solos are written
for piano, trumpet and tenor sax with modest brass
ranges and a sweet shout chorus. It's been play-
tested with great success and is an excellent chart
all around! Optional expanded instrumentation.

sections and the full ensemble are in the act with
this Joe Henderson classic set as a medium tempo
Latin chart with a bit of swing feel. At about 150
bpm, the opening statement is played by tenor 1 and
trumpet 1 with written suggested solos for each. The
trumpet 1 range is to written F top line, and there are
options for reduced or expanded instrumentations
with the included optional parts. Easy to play and
rehearse, it's highly recommended!

A Mi Papa—Matt Morey. A Mi Papa is an
accessible Latin groove chart based on the chord
changes for Horace Silver's classic Song for My
Father. The rhythm section sets the tone which is
joined by the ensemble. This sets up the unison
saxophone melody which is punctuated by the brass.
Trumpet and tenor sax are the featured soloists with
written solos provided along with chord symbols, and
the trumpet range is to written G on top of the staff.
Plenty of ensemble backgrounds provide security for
the soloists. A long ensemble crescendo begins after
the soloists and leads to the shout section and finish.
Great for the entire ensemble!

The Mooche—Duke Ellington/arr. Mark Taylor.
Composed in 1928, Ellington's The Mooche was
characterized as "jungle style" at the time thanks
to the unique instrumentation and rhythmic style.
Mark Taylor's outstanding version for developing
players alternates between the Latin styles of salsa
and mambo, and features solo space for tenor sax
and trombone. Unique and effective, this one is
highly recommended!

Nardis—Miles Davis/arr. Paul Murtha. The
definitive recording of this jazz classic is by Bill
Evans, with other notable recordings by Cannonball
Adderley and Joe Henderson. Paul Murtha's
arrangement for developing groups features a Latin
style on the head then switches to swing on the
bridge. This really nice chart also includes very
effective writing for all sections of the band as well
as written or improvised solo space for alto sax.
