The title of this tune is a thinly disguised suggestion of the Jobim composition that is everyone's favorite Bossa Nova. There is a solo section for alto and trumpet with written solos or chord changes for improvisation. This is a great Latin addition for your developing high school band and your students will have a great time calling out, "Squirrel!" 11202333 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .65.00 St. Thomas—Sonny Rollins/arr. Mark Taylor. Plenty of solid tutti ensemble scoring is featured in this arrangement for small group of Sonny Rollins' familiar Latin standard. The solo section can be opened up for any player and a tasty unison ensemble chorus follows. Suggested solos and scale/chord sheets are included. Highly recommended! Instrumentation: 3 saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone plus rhythm section. Optional additional parts are included for alto, tenor & trombone. 10098775 Jazz Ensemble (Little Big Band). . . . . . . . . . . .45.00 St. Thomas—Sonny Rollins/arr. Mark Taylor. One of the all-time best known Latin/jazz classics is this lively tune by Sonny Rollins! Mark Taylor has done a great job of making it playable by younger groups while maintaining the style of the original. Even though this is scored by Michael Philip Mossman for just six horns in the Little Big Band Series, the writing is sophisticated and full sounding. Written in 3/4, but featuring an Afro- Cuban 6/8 groove, this marvelous chart includes solos for tenor or trumpet. Instrumentation: 3 saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone, rhythm section with optional additional parts for alto sax, tenor sax and trombone. 10074146 Jazz Ensemble (Little Big Band). . . . . . . . . . . .45.00 Afro Blue—Mongo Santamaria/arr. Michael Mossman. Made famous by John Coltrane, but treated here in a more traditional Afro-Latin style, this is something a little different for jazz ensemble. As with all Mossman charts, the rhythm section is meticulously notated to ensure the correct style. The 3/4 pattern throughout draws heavily on African influences and the melody is masterfully passed from section to section. A single pentatonic scale works for the solo section, making this a wonderful vehicle for involving many soloists. 2478928 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .50.00 4 Aria—Rick Lawn. As the title suggests, this is a beautiful melodic feature for alto sax. In addition to the haunting tune, there are subtle supportive ensemble figures that weave a rich fabric of accompaniment and include flugelhorns and cup mutes in the trumpet section. The improvised solo needs only two scales - concert D harmonic minor and E-flat major. An ensemble chorus follows the solo section and leads to a cadenza before a slower, more dramatic close. A great opportunity to feature your alto player! 11207700 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .50.00 4 Beethoven's Havana Vacation—Ludwig van Beethoven/arr. Terry White.
