"We sit in silence, wait in hope, until You save the world." This sacred ballad contains a pivotal alto solo with the choir providing back-up vocals to create color, texture, and drama, further enhanced by optional cello. It reminds us that, during the 40 days leading to Holy Week and Easter, we should pray for the day of salvation. 11166010 SATB w/ Optional Cello . . . . . . .2.25 Wash Their Feet—Pepper Choplin. This introspective anthem for use during Holy Week warmly illustrates the lesson of being a servant to others, just as Christ was a servant to those He encountered during His earthly journey. From the cantata Come, Touch the Robe. 10424998 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.50 Were You There?—arr. John Leavitt. From the cantata Calvary's Mountain, this effective arrangement of the beloved spiritual is well crafted to deliver a fullness of sound without raising the level of difficulty. The emotional spiritual is standard repertoire for churches during Holy Week, and the restrained approach of this version is a sensitive choice for Tenebrae or other Holy Week traditions. Simply beautiful! 11166492 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.10 11166493 P/A CD . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .29.99 11166496E Orchestration ePrint . . . . . . . .55.00 L What Man Is This?—Pepper Choplin. Pepper Choplin brilliantly ties together Christ's birth with His death in this anthem from "The Body of Christ" (55/1197L). New lyrics combine with a traditional Christmas carol to highlight Christ's sacrifice and the promise of His birth. The introspective and thoughtful approach makes this stunning selection the perfect choice for Holy Week. 10956129 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.20 10956132 P/A CD & Split Track . . . . . . . .26.95 10956133 Instrumental Parts. . . . . . . . . .29.95 10956130 Orchestration CD-ROM . . . . . .59.95 10956131 Orchestration . . . . . . . . . . . . .59.95 L What Wondrous Love Is This—arr. Brian L. Hanson. Artistic and sensitive, Hanson's arrangement of the Appalachian folk hymn WONDROUS LOVE opens pensively but blossoms into a strong choral presentation mirroring the text. Gorgeous harmonies in the choral lines have both traditional and modern elements, while the piano accompaniment employs open fifths and flowing lines to create a growing texture of beauty and expression. A brief a cappella section and the stirring interludes are highlights, making this setting very special. 10953326 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.25 L What Wondrous Love Is This—arr. Trevor Manor. With harmonies that evoke the Appalachian roots of the hymn tune and a violin part providing beautiful countermelody throughout, this anthem is a striking presentation of God's sacrifice and love. This piece is an ideal selection for your children's, youth, women's ensemble or adult choirs. 10549851 Unison/Two-Part . . . . . . . . . . . .2.10 When I Survey the Wondrous Cross—arr. Dan Forrest. Using the tune O Waly Waly, solo violin, piano and the sound of a distant tenor drum, Dan Forrest has recast this most familiar hymn into a work of expressive magnificence. Recalling the sounds of a funeral procession from an earlier century, it brings together the elements of mourning and a kind of walk to the tomb, but pauses to reflect on the "love so amazing, so divine" that brought the Savior to His crucifixion. 10188421 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.15 10188422 Orchestration . . . . . . . . . . . . .80.00 11305672F SATB Part-Dominant MP3s . . .49.99 H When I Survey the Wondrous Cross—arr. Gilbert Martin. Effective, simple part-writing and exceptional use of dynamics have made this piece an icon of sacred choral literature. There is just no better way to express the meaning of the cross, particularly during Lent or Good Friday services. 984633 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .1.95 11313573F SATB Part-Dominant MP3s . . .49.99 When I Survey the Wondrous Cross—Lowell Mason/arr. Robert Sterling. The four stanzas of this time-honored hymn use different sonorities in both the accompaniment and choral parts to vary the colors and match the text. After a unison opening, the piece builds in power until it culminates in a majestic final verse. Parts for horn in F and congregation are included. 11167083 SATB w/ Horn in F and opt. Congregation. . . . . . . .2.10 11167084 Orchestration CD-ROM . . . . . .60.00 L When I Survey the Wondrous Cross—Larry Shackley. This introspective setting of the classic Isaac Watts text has a heart-touching melody that focuses the listener's attention on the meaning of the words. The traditional HAMBURG tune enters for the triumphant final verse before the anthem comes to a quiet close. A beautiful, optional flute (violin/ oboe) obbligato adds musical depth. 11165847 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.10 11165848 P/A CD . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .26.95 L When Jesus Wept—William Billings/arr. Gwyneth Walker. The original tune and lyrics for this piece are by William Billings and have been adapted for mixed chorus, optional percussion and piano by Gwyneth Walker. The mournful spirit of early Americana in the original music is still present, embellished by her additions and the movement of the original 3/4 time signature to common time. An effective and moving arrangement. 10663266 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.60 10682790 Full Score . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .17.00 10705915 Instrumental Parts. . . . . . . . . .15.00 4L When You Prayed Beneath the Trees— Christopher Idle & Lloyd Larson. Especially meaningful during the days of Holy Week, the text relates to our Lord praying in the garden of Gethsemane, and weaves around the tree theme found in many scriptures about the cross. The original accompaniment is for piano, plus optional flute, oboe, French horn and cello and perfectly captures the somber mood. This top-seller is now available in both unison and SSA. 8061841 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.30 10003067 SAB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.30 10292756 Two-Part Mixed. . . . . . . . . . . . .2.30 11165125 Unison . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.30 11165126 SSA . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.30 4L Who Is This?—Victor C. Johnson. "Who is this, despised, rejected, mocked, insulted, beaten, bound?" This eloquent anthem is a dramatic yet simple reflection on Christ's crucifixion, featuring haunting yet lovely choral writing and an elegant piano accompaniment. Focusing on the immense sacrifice at Calvary, it is an excellent choice for a contemplative moment in a Holy Week or Good Friday service.
