This Bricusse and Newley Broadway classic has enjoyed immense popularity since the version recorded by Michael Buble. This chart begins with with an epic and swingin' full-ensemble section reminiscent of the Buble version. There's a sultry trumpet solo before the band cranks into an uptempo Latin groove featuring room for soloists and lots of inventive horn lines. David Deacon- Joyner. This is a tune by Jeff Coffin that hearkens the spirit and groove of the shuffle as played by the late, great jazz drummer Art Blakey. This is a great arrangement and has a beautifully arranged and slightly tricky saxophone soli. Solid, fun solo changes and a strong grooving shuffle will raise the roof as well as the bandstand! 11164639 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .60.00 Giddyup!—Rick Hirsch. Better big bands will have a great time with this chart that features a catchy, upbeat swing groove with a hip-hop vibe. There are idiomatic melodic and rhythmic themes in all the horn sections which keep returning, thanks to a uniquely modified rondo form. The improvised solos are scored for tenor and trombone and the brass ranges are moderate for this difficulty level. Composed in a relaxed swing style, this catchy tune is built up in layers starting with the trombones. Saxes are added followed by the trumpets, and finally the full ensemble gets in on the fun. There are short, flashy spots for each section followed by an interlude leading to the open solo section. Bass trombone players can count on one hand the good charts available for their instrument. Well, here is one of the best yet arranged by Dave Wolpe in the style of the great George Roberts. With a medium-swing feel, this showcase will bring out the best in your bass trombone player with no improvisation, just written melody. There is some written or improvised jazz for 2nd trumpet in harmon mute, and the lead trumpet has a unison line to written high E. A nice sax soli is the icing on the cake. This is an awesome Mingus double-time swing chart in the original version as recorded on the Mingus Big Band 93 CD. It kicks off with a hot bari sax intro, features some really tight licks, an extended open solo section, and an infectious bari sax line that drives the whole piece. Serious jazz for serious bands! 2388650 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .60.00 H Moment's Notice—John Coltrane/arr. Alan Baylock. Alan Baylock crafts a great swinger on one of Coltrane's brilliant compositions. Set around 208 bpm, this chart includes solo space for alto and tenor and a lead trumpet range to written high C. A big shout chorus and sax soli complete the package. Outstanding chart! 10452152 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .60.00 Move Your Rug—Jeff Coffin/arr. Ryan Middagh. Here's a feel-good New Orleans second-line chart that can be opened up to feature any member of the jazz ensemble or an alto sax soloist. The band will love playing this chart, and the audience will leave humming the tune. This is one of Coffin's hits that is a great closer for any performance. This chart is one of the highly original swinging charts featured on Stan Kenton's Adventure in Blues album. It is the original version written for the Kenton instrumentation of that time (one alto, two tenor, baritone and bass saxophones; five trumpets; four mellophoniums; five trombones; piano, bass, and drums). Buddy Rich's band recorded this Beatles tune, and it is one of Holman's best-known charts. Treated as a jazz waltz, full of excitement and energy, it features solos for alto sax and trombone. Lots of raw power and blistering figures make this the ideal concert opener or closer! 2471103 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .60.00 Oh Soul Mio—arr. Billy Byers. This is the original Billy Byers arrangement made famous by the Count Basie Orchestra as recorded on the Pop Goes the Basie album! Up front is a conducted trombone solo followed by everything loved about Basie, from swingin' laid-back melodies to mind-blowing shout choruses. Beginning with a six-bar conducted trombone solo intro, it eases into a shuffle swing style at about 97 bpm. Plunger solos by trombone and trumpet, great sax soli sections, a key change, and full band shouts, this chart has it all! If you love other Basie tunes like I Can't Stop Loving You or I Left My Heart in San Francisco, you will definitely want this chart in your library. Greg Yasinitsky has set Charlie Parker's great bebop tune to swing at about 172 - 200 bpm. The lead trumpet range goes up to written B-flat above the staff and optional flute and vibraphone parts are included.
