Nightrider—Richard Meyer. This thrilling piece
is reminiscent of Schumann's character pieces

players more experience in 3/4 meter. The piece

One Bow Concerto—Richard Meyer. Your
audience will laugh out loud! A violinist, a violist and
a cellist have soloist seats in front of the orchestra,
and they share just one bow, passing it to one
another just in the nick of time. The orchestra is all
pizzicato, so there really is only one bow. "But a cellist
shouldn't use a violin bow," you think. Right, so they
stop passing it to him and the cellist shows what he
thinks of that! By the end the bow is in the hand of
the conductor. Recommended as a show-stopper!

Searching for Destiny's Diamond—Kirt Mosier.
This mysterious and creative work in E minor opens
with all sections playing the melody in unison
before transitioning to a fugue-like second half
where the main theme is offset by one measure
in violin 2, viola, and bass, creating interesting
harmonies and tensions. Sudden dynamic shifts
also add to the enigmatic atmosphere. Young
players will have the opportunity to study fugue-
style writing as well as reinforce low second fingers
and dynamics. A very accessible piano part is
optional but highly recommended.
