works in all of symphonic literature, this finale
from Tchaikovsky's "Fifth Symphony" is positively
electrifying! All of the colors and moods of the

arr. Richard Meyer. The second movement from
Tchaikovsky's sixth and last symphony finds
Tchaikovsky at his melodic best. This elegant
"waltz" in 5/4 meter has long been a favorite of
audiences and is an excellent way to introduce your
students to a too-often neglected time signature.
Performance time: approx. 6:20.

Finlandia—Jean Sibelius/arr. Owen Goldsmith.
There's a cold mystique about this work from

a few of the technical difficulties and includes
generous cross-cuings. The brass double tonguing
is still there, but so is all the power!
