Setting words by the composer, this is an affirmatory piece with pop-inspired rhythms and harmonies. The scat syllables and repeating patterns of the lower parts provide a rich cushion for the lilting melody of the soprano lines, with lyrics that encourage us to seize the day! 11366041 SSATBB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3.95 t Only Gratitude Remains—Jocelyn Hagen. The text of this composition comes out of a family crisis, and the words of the author, "We found that in a storm of uncertainty, gratitude became our anchor" have an inspiring message. The moving text is set in a reflective and calming style with beautiful cluster harmonies. 11371035 SATB divisi, or SSAATTBB . . . . 2.35 t The Parting Glass—arr. Joshua Pacey. This is a gently flowing arrangement of the traditional Scottish folk song with Irish influences. Beautifully arranged with soprano and tenor solos, this piece from VOCES8 features close harmonies and a warm texture. 11374004 SSAATTBB. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4.00 t Pax Domine—David Lantz III. This challenging a cappella anthem uses Latin phrases to convey the theme of peace. A short section in English, "Lord, grant us peace", gives way to a return of the opening text, "Pax, Domine". Appropriate for general use, memorials, Holy Week, and as a prayer response, its lush harmonies and effective voice leading also make it highly suitable for concert performance. 11381082 SSATBB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.00 Peace Is Every Step—David V. Montoya. This meditative setting of Thich Naht Hahn's poem resonates with the same quiet, ecstatic joy of the original text. The vocal lines alternate between layered polyphonic entrances and swelling homophony, depicting our individual spiritual journeys as they cyclically converge and split again. Sitting in the space between sacred and secular, this piece can be programmed equally in a concert setting or religious service of almost any denomination. 11377682 SATB with harp and drum. . . . . 3.00 D Pine Needles—Kevin Padworski. A colorful and evocative piano accompaniment underpins the setting of this beautiful late Romantic text. Built on a pentatonic melody that gives it an earthy sound, this arrangement evokes the spirit of its lyrics. 11348349 SSAA . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.60 D Prayer of the Children—Kurt Bestor/arr. Mark Hayes. This moving anthem of hope, embraced by choirs around the world for many years, is now available in this new arrangement with piano or orchestra accompaniment. Lush choral writing and an inspired instrumentation treat the work with due reverence and respect. At the very end, two measures sung in Croatian remind us that the prayer is intended for the whole world. Highly recommended! 10515004 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.00 t A Prayer—Ken Burton. Featuring a bittersweet text filled with hope and sadness by Paul Laurence Dunbar, the Black American son of emancipated slaves, this arrangement draws on spiritual, gospel, and blues styles to create a warm mixture of tonalities that will envelop you in a blanket of sound. 11349081 SATB divisi . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3.00 t Pyramid Song—arr. Geoff Lawson. Sublime and otherworldly, this arrangement of the iconic song by Radiohead holds true to the original. Based on the tragic story of the "Radium Girls" - young women who were exposed to radium as part of their work in clock factories who eventually died from the exposure. This piece is intended to shine a light on these women and other people working in tragic conditions through the power of song. Unique overtone singing and interesting musical textures express the text in a creative way. 11346460 SA divisi . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.95 Refuge—Sarah Quartel. Parker/ed. David P. Devenney. A beautiful choral piece from the American Romantic Choral Series. The river flows and turns gently, beckoning us to see the music of its journey and appreciate its beauty. Nineteenth- century artistry at its best, this romantic motet is an aural gem for any concert. 11342368 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.25 t The Sea Hath Its Pearls—J.C.D. Parker/ ed. David P. Devenney. A beautiful piece from the American Romantic Choral Series. Parker's settings of American poetry demonstrate his programmatic skills, reminiscent of similar works by Mendelssohn and Schubert. This piece, in 6/8 meter, also has the lilting feel of a sea shanty and will make for an enjoyable concert experience. 11342359 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.25 t See Amid the Winter's Snow—Becky McGlade. This setting of Edward Caswall's well- known text shows all the hallmarks of McGlade's characteristic style, with changing time signatures, beguiling chromaticism, and a beautiful, fluid original melody.
