This hauntingly cinematic arrangement written for VOCES8 is a warm and ethereal vocalise of the popular Ola Gjeilo piano piece from the album Night. 11379024 SSAATTBB with Harp or Piano . . . . . . . . . . . 2.95 t The Sun Never Says—Dan Forrest. As recorded by VOCES8 on their 2019 album Enchanted Isle, this soaring setting of Hafiz- inspired poetry by Daniel Ladinsky speaks of the matchless beauty of unconditional love. For a cappella choir with optional solo cello. This is an a cappella arrangement of movement III of LUX: The Dawn From On High, originally scored for chorus with chamber ensemble, small orchestra, or full orchestra. 10980701 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.25 The Swallow Song—Horatio Parker/ed. David P. DeVenney. A beautiful piece for treble voices from the American Romantic Choral Series. The lilting 3/8 accompaniment lifts the swallow into the air. An interesting 6/16 meter in the middle changes the character for a short while before returning to the opening meter. Very pleasant to hear, the programmatic writing requires great finesse and expression that will showcase your choir's artistry. 11342363 SSAA w/ Oboe. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.25 t Te Mea Nui—Katherine Bell. Based on three Maori whakataukil (proverbs) found hanging in the Christchurch Cathedral in New Zealand, this piece has taken on significance as a lament both for the composer's father and the victims of the Christchurch earthquakes of 2010-2011. The text asks, "What is the most important thing in the world?" and answers emphatically "It is people, it is people, it is people." This a cappella anthem of unity sung in Maori reminds us to stand together and to care for each other. 11362045 SSATTB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.00 t The World, This Wall, and Me—Michael Bussewitz-Quarm. This song begins in a transgender woman's dream. The post-transition female is sitting with friends with her back to the dreamer, who is still presenting as male in the dream. The female turns to the young woman and smiles at her. In this moment, the young woman understands that, no matter the struggle she faces, everything will be okay. Musically, the song moves along with a sense of urgency after an introduction featuring the tenors. Arriving at the middle, the choir sings "I will not let fear become my beacon!" And finally, the young woman is able to come out, and the choir sings "Now I can see you in all your wondrous colors." Also about how we use walls when we need to, this is a fitting reminder that it is okay to take the time we need to heal. 11371686 SATB divisi, or SSAATTBB . . . . 2.80 t Thy Silver Pinions—Stacy Garrop. The first Marguerite Brooks Commission for the National Collegiate Choral Association, this piece combines poems by Emily Dickinson and John Keats which speak beautifully to the subject of hope. The choral writing lends itself to advanced choirs and is very expressive in nature. 11373330 SATB divisi . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.60 Till I Wake—Harry T. Burleigh/arr. Marques L.A. Garrett. This fifth piece from the series Five Songs of Laurence Hope sets a poem from Hope's India's Love Lyrics, published in 1902. A powerful and haunting performance piece. 11368628 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.60 t The Universe Within You—Stephen Barton. This is an exquisite piece with text by the 13th- century Persian mystic known as Rumi. This arrangement is very still, pure, and possesses a quiet intensity. Slow-moving chords overlap and interweave between the two choirs, making it feel mysterious as the universe itself. 11374006 SATB/SATB Double Choir, or SSAATTBB. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3.50 t Vinterskymning—Steven Hansen. Translated as "winter dusk," this beautiful winter piece with tight harmonies in multiple meters features Swedish and Finnish lyrics written by Ingegard Sundell specifically for this song. They describe a sunset during wintertime with snowflakes dancing in the air outside and in through the open window. 11348733 SATB divisi . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3.20 Warm Summer Sun—Stephen Chatman. A sweet and comforting text by American writer Mark Twain is set with a beautiful and soothing clarinet part flowing through the choral writing like a warm summer breeze. 11371036 SATB divisi . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.05 Dt Warrior—Kim Baryluk. This is a well-known and moving anthem for women. The music is stunning with its simple, powerful message. "I can and will fight. I can and will a warrior be. It is my nature and my duty. It is the womanhood in me." 11342698 SSA with Chant . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.75 D Welcome Home, Child—Andrea Clearfield. Part of a major work commissioned by the Philadelphia Orchestra for chorus, narrator, and orchestra, this piece has been reimagined for mixed choir, piano, and percussion. The text by Charlotte Blake Alston is shared between the narration and the sung lyrics and is a powerful declaration of the celebration of new life in our families and communities. 11337823 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.75 When Johnny Comes Marching Home—arr. Dan Davison. This well-known American Civil War tune gets a grand and wonderful treatment with a divisi choral texture, four-hand piano accompaniment, snare drum, and glockenspiel. The story marches through the years of the war and ends with the cheers when Johnny comes home, celebrating American patriotism in a joyous and authentic way. Ideal for large festival choirs. 11347646 SATB divisi . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.75 Where We Find Ourselves—Michael Bussewitz-Quarm. A major work in five movements, this selection features a variety of pieces that reflect diversity, acceptance, and an appreciation for living in the present moment. "Embracing who we are. This is where the road is leading, this is where we find ourselves." 11346481 SATB Vocal Score . . . . . . . . . . 11.50 The World Imagined—Gabriel Jackson. This spiritual work draws its evocative texts from diverse sources ranging from a hymn by St. Ambrose to contemporary poems by Doris Kareva and Kenneth White. Profound words by Wallace Stevens draw this monumental work to a close, with wind and strings leading us to a final chord resounding with quiet optimism to end this transformative musical experience. 11372383 SATB Choral Score . . . . . . . . . 16.00 t The World's Wanderers—J.C.D. Parker/ed. David P. Devenney. From the American Romantic Choral Series comes this beautiful choral piece. This tender motet gazes into the night sky in a three-verse setting. The first for the star and the second for the moon are musically mirrored. The third, for the wind, brings a slight change of course settling into a sweet ending cadence. A good teaching piece for diction, tone, and expression, this is a lovely sampling of excellent choral artistry. 11342366 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.25 You Are Enough: A Mental Health Suite— Aron Accurso. This three-movement suite for tenor-bass choirs is intended to elevate conversations regarding mental health. The composer brings his sense of the dramatic to this powerful score. The first movement, Inside the Storm, is a cappella and filled with lyrics and harmonies that create a sense of questioning and discomfort. The second, A Thought Storm, is tumultuous, like an onslaught of negative thoughts, with spoken dialog, aleatoric singing, a dramatic piano accompaniment, and lyrics that begin with a negative bent which gradually transition to more positive thoughts. The final movement, You are Enough, has a modern, musical theater quality that expresses inspirational and empowering lyrics with memorable melodies. A fitting conclusion to a discussion on this challenging subject. 11347721 TTBB Choral Score divisi . . . . . 5.95 24 COLLEGIATE CHOIR
