This medley of three tone poems was written specifically in honor of the Handbell Ringers of Japan to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Musically, the work is true to the title. The 'Peril' section is quite dramatic, beginning with an 8-measure, ominous mallet roll starting in the low bass. The main themes are filled with energy and end this section with a dramatic chord. 'Peace' is introduced on handchimes leading into a lovely melodic section which includes rainsticks. 'Joy' then follows with a simple melody which is beautifully developed to the end. 11410777 5-7 Octave w/3 oct. Handchimes . . . . . . L3 4.95 Gladness and Grace—Michael Mazzatenta. A winner of the 2021 Into the Forest Bell Tree Composition Contest, this original is written to be played using only one set of bells (3-5 octaves) and one 3 octave set of handchimes with no duplicate bells. The bell tree part is playable for a relatively new bell tree ringer and is accompanied by a choir of mixed bells, chimes and percussion. Lovely and accessible for many choirs. 11388161 3-5 Octave Bell Tree Solo & Handbell Choir . . . . . . L2-EM 5.95 Hashivenu ("Rise Up and Sing," a song of resilience)—arr. Brenda E. Austin. A song of resilience, this traditional Israeli folk song begins with a mournful setting on handchimes (3-5 octaves) that is lovely, gentle, and flowing. The character of the piece changes as it moves into an up-tempo section with malleted rhythmic bass supporting the melody as it drives to the end. The arrangement is fresh and inspiring and will make a great concert piece! 11514592 3-6 Octave . . . . . . . . . . . . . . L2 6.50 Intrepid—Jason Krug. This exciting original work is full of intensity, with constantly changing time signatures that will challenge ringers, while the catchy melody will intrigue and engage listeners. The driving malleted bass gives way to a slower, softer section that remains in 4/4 but loses none of the energy of the opening. The initial material returns as the piece builds towards its end on an explosive final chord for a finish sure to send your audience to their feet! 11405391 5-7 Octave . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
