Gesu Bambino—arr. Derric Johnson. Shhh!
Be sure not to wake the baby! This beautiful
traditional Christmas lullaby is sweetly
arranged to create a tranquil and beautiful
atmosphere that welcomes the Christ child.
The recognizable harmonies are in place,
and there is the opportunity to feature several
soloists. There are also some sections of first
soprano divisi in the upper range that will create
a floating, angelic touch that soars above.

The Glastonbury Thorn—Z. Randall Stroope.
This curious text depicts a town in southwest
England with ties to the Arthurian legends,
the Holy Grail, and the story of Joseph of
Arimathea. Beautifully crafted, the music soars
and weaves, painting the many pictures of the
beautiful story.

Gloria—Randol Alan Bass. This vigorous
seven-minute work is a rhythmic yet lyrical
setting of the Latin "Gloria in excelsis" text that
will be a highlight of both sacred and secular
programs, especially at Christmas. Written for
the New York Pops, recorded by the Boston
Pops, it has been extensively programmed
by professional and non-professional
groups in a variety of venues. No solosts;
multiple accompaniments; full and reduced
orchestrations available by rental only.

Gloria (from "Mariazeller Messe")—Joseph
Haydn/ed. Ryan Kelly. Haydn's eighth setting
of the ordinary of the Mass was composed in
1782 for performance in Mariazell, Austria. The
brief opening portion of the Gloria has been
selected for this anthem, featuring Haydn's
exuberant, straightforward homophonic
choral writing true to the Classical period. The
accompaniment is an approachable orchestral
reduction for piano with optional trumpets and
timpani. Accessible to most ensembles, this
anthem offers choirs the exciting opportunity to
sing an excerpt from a large-scale choral work.

Gloria—Noah Reese. Reese's a cappella
canon, based on a descending D major
scale, is fantastic for teaching unison singing,
reinforcing part singing, and developing choral
tone, all within the framework of conservative
ranges for the treble choir. The celebratory
Latin text adds an element of excitement and
maturity while helping to shape the vowels and
tone of young singers.

Gloria—Michael John Trotta. This energetic
choral work offers an introduction to the
traditional Latin text with compound meter
and accessible choral parts. Whether chosen
for its educational features, its lyric melody, or
its energetic accompaniment, it is a wonderful
way to open any concert. It can be used in
combination with Trotta's other Latin works
Kyrie; Agnus Dei and Sanctus to create a
Missa brevis.

Gloria and Alleluia—Ruth Elaine Schram.
Two short contrasting movements may either
stand on their own or combine into one longer
setting. The Gloria setting is upbeat, rhythmic,
and fanfare-like, while the Alleluia is quiet,
introspective and set in a minor key. Both are
lovely a cappella settings that are achievable
by choirs in a school or church setting.

Go Where I Send Thee!—arr. Paul Caldwell
& Sean Ivory. If you have a very talented choir
looking for a challenge, this is an absolutely
"must do" spiritual! The use of the many variants
of the text allows the music to maximize the use
of gospel-style modulations and to give the
singers significant one-line reminders of some
of the biblical stories on which the African-
American musical tradition is based.

familiar tune at the beginning to bold and exciting
harmonies by the end. The arrangement will
provide a high-spirited and rousing climax for

spirited arrangement of this much-loved
carol! This setting for SATB voices and piano
requires an above-average accompanist and

Reese & Debbie Siebert. Especially designed
for young tenors and basses with changing
voices, this arrangement offers the option to
sing in unison throughout or to add the written
parts on the third verse that begin in canon and
end in simple harmony. With just a hint of Mary
Did You Know?, the accompaniment brings an
artistic and plaintive voice to the well-known
traditional English Christmas carol.

God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen—arr.
Elizabeth Campbell. A great way to feature
your tenors and basses, this piece includes the
imitation of the sound of a swinging, walking
string bass as they lay the foundation for the
tune. Your sopranos and altos will have fun
singing the bass line up an octave while the
tenors and basses then get to carry the melody.
Complete with finger snaps and a whispered
"Yeah!" at the end, it is extremely cool, and is
guaranteed to be a huge hit with your students
and audiences!

God Will Give Orders/Sweet Child (from
"Snow Angel")—Sarah Quartel. Beginning
with a mystical, ethereal feel with a haunting
optional cello line, this piece opens with lyrical
choral lines singing over a baby and promising
heavenly protection and care. The mood then
shifts to a celebratory and rhythmic feel with
djembe, and eventually a quieter a cappella
refrain closes with the choir affirming the
promise: "Sweet child, you're the future...
Sweet child, I will show you how to love."
