CONCERT BAND Editors' Choice 2023 New Basic Library Available via ePrint Downloadable All Prices in U.S. Dollars & Subject To Publisher Revision 32 Go to cart CONCERT & CONTEST medium-easy Imani—Sean O'Loughlin. Imani, which means faith, is the seventh day of Kwanzaa, the African and African-American celebration of family and culture. This challenging and colorful piece rises from its quiet chant-like opening (involving part of the band singing the "Imani" tune) to a sonorous major climax at measure 51. The faster section that follows makes brilliant use of an enlarged percussion section that includes a number of assorted instruments (Log drums, Congas, Claves, et. al.) This is a terrific multicultural selection that will have many uses for holiday programs and contest performances. 2465326 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .95.00 Imminent Danger—Jennifer Rose. Alert! Alert! This work for wind band and electroacoustic accompaniment combines rhythmic interest and dramatic dynamic changes with the textures provided by the electronic backing track. Start or end your next concert with a decisive bang! Intense percussion, driving rhythms, memorable melodies, and careening shifts between major and minor modes combine to create a truly "impact-full" experience. 10907722 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .60.00 In Simple Faith—arr. Randall D. Standridge. Few genres of music adapt to concert band writing as effectively as hymn tunes, and this setting is a glowing example. This very musical concert work is based on the hymn 'Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus with enhancing material added for transitions and unity. Beautifully written in the style of a classic hymn song setting for band, it's a remarkably musical setting that embraces the style and deserves a special place in the repertoire. 10849093 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .70.00 In the Bleak Midwinter—Gustav Holst/arr. Smith. With broad, expansive strokes, yet with great sensitivity and taste, Robert Smith has created a truly remarkable setting of the beautiful Holst melody. From a haunting single voice, a stunning climax is reached before giving way to a simple restatement. This is a deeply moving, emotional work for concert band, an ideal choice for winter and holiday concerts, and we recommend it very highly! 2261451 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .72.00 In the Forest of the King—Pierre La Plante. Pierre LaPlante presents this appealing suite based on traditional French folksongs that's just right for contest or concert use! The three contrasting movements feature the songs: Le Furet; The Laurel Grove and King Dagobert. It's a bright selection, at times capricious, at others regal, but overall endearing! 2453504 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .80.00 In the Shining of the Stars—Robert Sheldon. Talk about sending chills up and down your spine! This gorgeous work pulls as much emotion out of the notes as many a harder piece. Yes, you can make real music! 2347474 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .60.00 Intensity—Gary D. Ziek. This driving and high octane original work lives up to its title. Rob Romeyn. This Grainger classic is unquestionably one of the most beloved standards of the concert band repertoire. This brilliant arrangement has been skillfully and carefully adapted to better fit the instrumentation of a smaller ensemble, allowing the piece to be performed effectively by many more bands that would otherwise not have the opportunity. All of Grainger's iconic melodic and harmonic lines and harmonic structure are present and left intact. Great music for younger performers! 11206719 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .59.00 Jovian Farewell—Michael Sweeney. This beautiful piece is a carefully paced memorial work. The title refers to the planet Jupiter, and the music incorporates the famous chorale by Gustav Holst. The full chorale emerges near the end, then tapers peacefully to a tender close. 11517365 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .75.00 Jubilance—James Swearingen.
