Kalos Eidos (Kaleidoscope)—Carol Brittin
Chambers. This is a delightfully programmatic
work meant to musically portray the
characteristics of a kaleidoscope. Through
this great writing, you will envision colors and
patterns which are masterfully represented
for the modern concert band. You and your
students will find much joy in putting this
work together!

Kentucky 1800—Clare Grundman. Based on
three traditional tunes reminiscent of the years
when the pioneers were forging west, this is a
folk-style tone poem in which melodic material
is treated in great depth and with variety. An
exceptionally popular, proven work!

Keystone—JaRod Hall. Inspired by the march
from Holst's Second Suite in F, this is a colorful,
original work with an added contemporary flair.
Creative scoring weaves through fanfares, lyrical
passages, modulations, and a lilting compound-
duple section, ultimately arriving at a cinematic
coda that brings the piece to a triumphant close.
An incredible festival work. (3:45)

Klang—Andrew Boysen Jr. A programmatic
work inspired by the clanging sounds of leftover
construction material for a new concert hall.
By spelling the title with a "K," Klang invokes
the klangfarbenmelodie (tone color melody)
technique of Arnold Schoenberg. The melody
is passed around note-by-note to different
sections of the band throughout its five-part
arch structure using compositional techniques
like inversion and retrograde. The middle
section invites three soloists to improvise over
a B-flat mixolydian scale before the ensemble
gradually builds toward a recapitulation of the
opening material and a resounding finish.

Korean Folk Rhapsody (Flex Band)—James
Curnow. This familiar Korean folk tune is
arranged in a series of variations through
different styles and textures. A very effective
setting scored with flexible options for bands
with instrumentation challenges.

Kyiv, 2022 (A Sequel to "Moscow, 1941")—
Brian Balmages. Written as a powerful sequel
to Moscow, 1941, this work changes the
narrative, where the theme from Moscow
now represents the aggressor, and the heroic
people of Ukraine are represented by the
Ukrainian National Anthem and the powerful
song Prayer for Ukraine. Certain to spark
discussions about humanity, history, and
culture, this piece can easily be performed
alongside Moscow, 1941 or in place of it. All
net proceeds of the initial release are going to
relief organizations on the ground in Ukraine.

La Madre de Los Gatos—Brian Beck. The
wonderful style of the "paso doble" is evident
at the very start of this original concert band
piece. You can tell by the tempo markings,
Allegro con passione and Prestissimo con
fuego!, that this work contains the passion and
fire that will grab the attention of audiences
wherever it's performed.

The Last Ride of the Pony Express—David
Shaffer. Bring a slice of American history alive
in your concert! From April 1860 to October
1861, the Pony Express was the fastest way
to get a message across the Western half of
the U.S, and this riveting work rings with the
excitement and danger faced by the daring
few brave enough to make that ride. Colorful
sounds, invigorating rhythms, and characteristic
Western effects will connect with your audience.
This is an outstanding choice for concert or
festival. Very highly recommended!

The Legend of Lorelei—Larry Clark. Based
on the legendary Lorelei, this programmatic
work is a great choice for contest and
festival performances. Scored with reduced
instrumentation with only two B-flat clarinet
and trumpet lines and limited saxophone, horn
in Fand low brass, this exciting work for band
will work great for smaller bands and still sound
big and full with larger ones.
11501907 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .85.00
Let Justice Rise (Fanfare)—Steve Parsons/
arr. Laurie Lafferty. A strong and heroic fanfare

bands. Every section of the band gets a chance
to shine and sound big.

A Life Worth Living—Brian Balmages. This
powerfully lyrical work facilitates meaningful
discussions about self-worth, caring for others,
and much more. Using harmonies, colors, and
textures not often found in pieces at this level,
this emotional piece is playable by younger
musicians yet musically appropriate for any
level ensemble. Absolutely stunning. (5:00)

Lightning Field—John Mackey. Inspired by
a massive work of art in which steel rods are
placed over a large expanse of desert, drawing
lightning strikes and creating powerful man-
made electrical storms. This work draws on
the ancient impulse to summon nature's power
and a strong feeling of barely contained energy
ripples throughout, enhanced by using thunder
sticks to create the sound of man-made
thunder surrounding the audience.
10516033 Band Set & Score . . . . . . .145.00
Little English Suite—Clare Grundman. A
timeless and classic work by one of the great
all-time band composers. Four traditional
English folk songs are presented in an
appealing and well designed setting, perfect
for any ensemble. Included are the rollicking
The Leather Bottel, followed by the lyric Roving
and We Met and concluding with the grand and
stately Vicar of Bray. Priceless!

Lone Eagle—Robert Sheldon. A soaring and
majestic work that will stand out at any concert
or festival program. Active and spry from the
start, this uplifting overture features colorful
energetic themes that are contrasted with calm
and serene moments of quiet lyricism. A total
musical offering that will have bands sounding
their very best.

lines add a layer of emotion while making your
middle or high school concert band sound full.

Majestia—James Swearingen. An absolutely
exquisite work! Opening with a lovely solo
flute passage, this outstanding concert/contest
selection features lush harmonies, driving tutti
passages, strong percussion lines, broad, lyrical,
flowing melodies and an exciting finale, all within
a very playable framework. This work by Jim
Swearingen significantly adds to and expands
his already high stature as a composer of school
band music, and we recommend it highly!

Make Our Garden Grow (from Candide)—
Leonard Bernstein/arr. Joseph Kreines. From
Leonard Bernstein's 1956 operetta Candide,
the remarkably beautiful closing number has
gone on to become a beloved and familiar
classic, taking on a life all its own. Arranged
here for younger bands, this setting allows
all the natural beauty of the melody to shine
through as the music moves from delicate
scoring in the opening to a powerful climax by
the full ensemble.

Mar y Cielo—Jorge L. Vargas. Mar y Cielo,
meaning "Sea and Sky," is a tuneful and
memorable pasodoble written for young
bands. With its vibrant harmonies and melodic
lines, this piece is a perfect introduction to the
Spanish-style marches that are usually only
accessible to more advanced bands. It will be
the perfect opener for your next concert! (2:45)
11400550 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .65.00
March of the Shadows (Flex Band)—Haley
Woodrow. Paying homage to the traditional
march form, this work steps outside the box in
this delightfully dark and unique piece for young
players. It is scored for flexible instrumentation
and features clever effects and a minor mode.
11517371 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .65.00
Mars (from "The Planets")—Holst/arr.
Bocook. Jay Bocook lends his arranging
talents to Holst's most famous piece of music,
and you can bet the result is exceptional! This
version is musically exciting, well-paced and
very approachable for developing bands. Jay
Bocook condenses the piece to an appropriate
length for bands at this level, but he still
manages to all of the various transitions and
motives from the original. Your band will feel
invincible when they play this one!
2390540 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .65.00
Metamorphosis—Andrew Boysen, Jr. The
title refers to the transformation of a caterpillar
into a butterfly. The piece opens with a
beautiful statement which then morphs into
something new in the faster middle section.
The triumphant final section emerges with lively
percussion and ensemble swells, simulating
the butterfly getting ready to take flight. This
imaginative work ends peacefully as the
butterfly floats off into the distance.

Moscow, 1941—Brian Balmages. Take
your band to the next level with this inspiring
work for young bands! Based on the famous
Russian song Meadowlands, this work also
uses original material to tell the story of the Red
Army successfully defending Moscow against
the German invasion in the Second World
War. Exploring various sounds, colors, and
harmonies, this makes a moment to capture
your audience's attention.
