The Picnic: Watch Out for the B's—Ingrid
Koller. This piece tells the story of a picnic
interrupted by pesky bees. As time goes on,
more and more bees can be heard, and every
section gets a turn. Listen for the sounds of the
bees as they travel around the orchestra. Most
of the "buzzes" include the musical note B in
the dissonant cluster of notes. This piece gives
your students a chance to tell a story with their
music - invite them to engage in the drama,
looking nervously around or occasionally
swatting an imaginary bee in front of their
faces. The orchestra creates the narrative of
happy picnickers having their beautiful day
interrupted by pesky bees.

Red Pepper—Jeffrey S. Bishop. Based on
traditional Zydeco music and Cajun fiddling
style, this clever arrangement passes
tunes playfully from one section to another,
sometimes over a pizzicato walking bass line.
This top-seller is full of energy and fun!

Remote Control—Richard Meyer. What if you
could control a live orchestra with a remote
control? With the sound of a bell, the orchestra
switches from piece to piece in mid-phrase.
Listen as Eine Kleine Nachtmusik changes
to Beethoven's Seventh to Stars and Stripes
Forever and back again! Your audience will
love it as they surf from channel to channel,
ranging from opera to sci-fi. This remote even
has a pause button that freezes the orchestra,
and a mute button that haves them playing
without sound. Great fun for everyone!

Rosin Eating Zombies from Outer Space—
Richard Meyer. Don't miss this! If there is
one piece your developing orchestra will love
rehearsing and performing, it's this one! This
programmatic piece spins a tale of mayhem
and mischief as the rosin eating zombies take
over your stage complete with blood-curdling
screams, glissandos, ponticello and more.
All the eerie effects are clearly explained and
notated, so the only trouble you'll have is
getting your students to stop playing it. It's a
wild ride you won't want to miss!

Viva Violas—Richard Meyer. Take out the
castanets because the violas are taking the
stage, Spanish style! It begins in a paso doble
reminiscent of a vigorous Spanish guitar solo,
then moves into a major-key allegretto where
the violas even get a chance to glissando!
2475430 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .60.00

221B Baker Street—Jeffrey Bishop. The title
of this exciting musical depiction is, of course,
the residence of Sherlock Holmes. The three
musical motifs depict Sherlock Holmes, Dr.
Watson and the arch-villain Professor Moriarity.
The music moves from thoughtful to intense
and is fun to play!
10069432 String Orchestra . . . . . .M 50.00
7th Street Beat—Lauren Bernofsky. A beatbox
piece for orchestra! Beatbox percussion
sounds imitate effects normally made by a
drum set, and these vocal syllables are woven
into the parts of each section of the orchestra.
The same parts are also written out separately
for a guest "soloist" or two. A section for
optional improvisation - either instrumental or
vocal - makes this piece extra-fun and creative!

Blackberry Blossom—Gary Gackstatter.
Feature your top player on this famous
American tune! The first time through, the
soloist takes the lead accompanied by some
pizzicato and the occasional foot stomp. The
second time through, first violins play most of
the tune along with the soloist. The third and
final time through the soloist gets some nice
variations on the tune. And, oh yes, the faster
the better!

Milonga del Angel—Astor Piazzolla/arr.
Jim Palmer. This lyrical arrangement of an
Argentinian tango is a wonderful introduction

beautiful harmonies, interesting rhythms, and
the variety of dynamics, the piece includes
many opportunities to teach shifting, glissando,
balance, and phrasing. A perfect choice for
festival or any concert performance.
