You can't go wrong with George Gershwin, and this masterful arrangement has done a spectacular job of taking the genius melody of this classic tune and crafting a subtle and sophisticated chart. The arrangement moves from a straight eighth-note feel to a jazz waltz before melting into a lovely bossa. Everything about this chart just feels perfect. 11561649 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 Sweet Georgia Brown—Ben Bernie & Maceo Pinkard/arr. Mark Taylor. There are some jazz standards that just never seem to go out of style. Here's an exceptional arrangement for vocal soloist in a medium swing style. The chart features inventive accompaniment figures from the band, a brief sax soli, and a shout chorus filled with dramatic contrasts in dynamics. This one is fun for the band as well as the singer. 11571828 Jazz Ensemble & Vocalist . . . 55.00 Take Five—Paul Desmond/arr. Rich DeRosa. Perhaps the most famous time chart of all, Take Five is in 5/4 - but the rhythmic pattern is clear and consistent throughout. You'll find this arrangement very accessible, with easy alto sax and drum solos plus modest brass ranges. This chart features a more laid-back style than the original and is sure to be just as important today as was in the 1960s. Recommended for every jazz enthusiast! 10049802 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 Terminally Hip—Gordon Goodwin. Yes, it's hip! A clever, swinging treatment of a catchy tune played around 150 bpm. Lead trumpet range is to written B above the staff, the solo section includes suggested solos written for C, B-flat, E-flat, and trombone players: your choice. The shout chorus features drums trading with the ensemble. Optional parts include flute and vibes. (5:20) 11570903 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 Things Ain't What They Used to Be—Mercer Ellington/arr. Alan Baylock. Mercer Ellington's classic blues shuffle gets the Baylock treatment! The style is down home and the solos are for alto, trumpet, trombone, and tenor sax. Also included is a powerful Baylock-style shout chorus and optional parts for expanded instrumentations. It's a fun chart and it gets our highest recommendation! 10513911 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 This Could Be the Start of Something Big— Steve Allen. This one burns! With clever shifts from swing to samba, trombone section features, hard swinging figures, a hip sax soli, and huge ensemble shouts, this one is the perfect showcase for your top-level jazz ensemble. Solos for alto sax, tenor sax, trombone, and drums. 11593025 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 The Upsweep—Alan Baylock. This very hip, funky rock chart has a driving groove played around 92 bpm. Solos are provided for trombone 1 and alto 1. Lead trumpet range is to written G on top of the staff. This chart will really work best with electric bass and piano. The band will dig it! (4:15) 11570902 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 Uptown Swing!—Mark Taylor. Designed as a flashy showpiece that features every section of the band, this uptempo burner is the perfect opener! After the attention-getting intro the rhythm section starts things off then passes the baton to the trombone section. (A short interlude separates each feature spot, so plug in an announcer if you like!) The sax section shows its stuff followed by the trumpets. A short drum solo leads to the final full band chorus where everything comes together. This gets any concert off to an exciting start! 11571823 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 Work Song—Nat Adderley/arr. Erik Morales. Wow! If Nat Adderley could hear this chart on his iconic jazz standard, he would be pleased! The first statement stays very close to the original, which is a good thing. The solos are for written or improvised alto and trumpet, and the solo backgrounds are simply wonderful. This swinger plays well at about 176 bmp, has excellent full- ensemble passages, a bari sax and rhythm section break before the last chorus, an exciting shout chorus, and great development. This chart has it all! Our highest recommendation! 10513905 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . 54.00 BLUES & SWING SOLO FEATURES Reward your key players with the opportunity to shine with one or more of these great solo features. They offer a solo part all the way through with ample support from the ensemble. Cinema Paradiso (Solo Flugelhorn Feature)— Ennio Morricone & Andrea Morricone/arr. Mark Taylor. This memorable movie theme has been recorded by artists ranging from trumpeter Chris Botti to violinist Joshua Bell. Here is a beautiful setting for young jazz ensembles featuring a flugelhorn soloist in a Latin ballad style. Perfect as a change of pace for any program or festival. 11539347 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ME 50.00 The Last of the Red-Hot Tenors—Rich Woolworth. As the title suggests, this is a tour de force for your band's hot tenor sax soloist! With a sultry, greasy, down-home feel, the soloist gets the melody interspersed with melodic statements from the band. Your bass trombone player also gets to do a bit of showing off. There's a long improvised section for the soloist to stretch out, then the entire band comes in with a big ensemble shout chorus. The soloist takes over again to bring it home. Two solo parts are provided; one totally improvised and one a suggested written-out solo. 11516036 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . This Hoagy Carmichael standard from has remained a staple for jazz musicians for almost a century. With its haunting melody and lush chord progression, this ballad treatment of the tune features your tenor sax soloing through the melody, interspersed with melodic statements from the rest of the band. The solo section features an ad-lib tenor sax solo before the rest of the band returns to close out the tune. The lead trumpet plays up to an A just above the staff. 11516034 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
