Emily Dickinson's succinct, deep reflections on life in her poem inform the musical language in this setting for choir. Time is short, and the time we find to love is what gives our world hope. The singers and pianist act as co-storytellers and express the nuances of the abrupt nature of the poetry through eclectic and varied musical devices. 11592990 SSAA . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.75 I Would Live in Your Love—Ashley Eyre. Sara Teasdale's love poem is beautifully set in a lilting, dreamlike texture that gradually unfolds from two-part to four-part divisi. The melody has a lovely phrase structure, and the interplay between the parts is seamless. Treble choirs will enjoy learning and performing this sensitive ballad. 11569725 SA divisi or SSAA . . . . . . . . . . . 3.25 I've Got Joy—Otto Gross, Jayna Gross & Abigail Flowers. Designed to be flexible, this tender setting of traditional Irish blessings may be performed in two-part or unison with piano as notated throughout, unaccompanied, or shortened by omitting the B section. A sense of community, the way we hope for the best for others, and self-sufficiency are explored in this beautiful text that can function as a concert closer, a choral benediction, or for year-end events. 11592941 SA or Unison, opt. A Cappella. . 2.65 Iron Rain—Z. Randall Stroope. Based on the discovery of an exoplanet where the temperatures are so extreme that iron and other metals evaporate and fall back to the surface as rain, this exciting concert work with a piano four hands accompaniment is expressive and dynamic. Setting a poem by Sam Illingworth, it pays homage to the mystery and the expanse of space. It's an adventurous programming option for treble honor choirs. 11567955 SSAA divisi, Piano Four Hands 3.30 Journey the Night—Lisa Longe. "In darkness, we see more than we know." Carefully crafted for developing groups with moderate-range voice parts and a supportive accompaniment, this gentle original work in 6/8 is a lovely choice. Poetic lyrics about the mystique and wonder of nighttime evoke sounds of singing shadows. Composed mostly in minor, the final bars soften and slow with an uplifting shift to the relative major. 11594287 Two-Part. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.30 The Lake Isle of Innisfree—Brian Martinez. Lyrical vocal lines, a flowing piano accompaniment, and a contrasting a cappella middle section make this a rewarding choice for treble ensembles. William Butler Yeats' poetry shines in this setting that utilizes an ocean drum and overlapping harmonies to mimic the sound of the waves to a mesmerizing and lovely effect. 11592537 SSA . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.70 Lead Me Home—Matt Carlson. "Lead me home, somewhere I don't feel alone. I don't want to be on my own for too long." Penned in a popular- song style, with plenty of unison lines and singable stacked harmonies, this feel-good song is a journey that explores the concept of home and what it means. It's a wonderful choice for treble choirs for final concerts or graduation and moving-up ceremonies. 11592529 SSA . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.70 Little Fishes, Don't Cry!—Daniel Brinsmead. Steering a dramatic course away from the well- known lullaby in Australia, this original setting for treble choirs is lively and engaging. Using a jaunty sea-shanty style and new added text, choirs are encouraged to have fun with the storytelling. It remains in mostly two parts until an optional descant is added for the final refrain. Also available in Brinsmead's collection Five Sea Songs. 11567957 SA opt. Russell Robinson. Set in an island style, this arrangement of the South Carolina Sea Island song is very easy for developing choirs to learn. The harmonies and interplay between the voices are nice, the lightly syncopated rhythms are very catchy, and there are even some short a cappella sections that highlight the voices in harmony. Add the optional percussion for added excitement! 11593359 Two-Part. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.75 Notes from Emily—Robin McLaughlin Conine. Deftly weaving two famed Emily Dickinson poems together, this whimsical musical setting expresses the nature of her poetry with charm and creativity. The piano adds a playful motive with meter changes, while the singable syncopated melody is presented in unison, canon, and with easily learned harmony. It's a delightful piece for treble choirs of all ages. 11593362 Two-Part or SA . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3.20 Oh! Dear! What Can the Matter Be?—arr. Lisa Benincasa. Waiting around for Johnny to bring gifts back from the fair just isn't going to work! In this old English folk song setting, we let him just go ahead and stay at the fair. Beginning in a standard style with a dance-like piano accompaniment, the arrangement builds in countermelodies that have the sopranos and altos getting back at that unreliable Johnny. This is great for expressing character and humor! 11566929 SSA . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.25 CHILDREN'S COMMUNITY CHOIR 19 Theme: DREAMS & IMAGININGS Dream with Me—arr.
