ADULT COMMUNITY CHOIR CONCERT WORKS Dies Irae (from "Missa de Requiem")—José Maurício Nunes Garcia/arr. Matthew Harrison. Reminiscent of the Mozart Dies Irae, this riveting setting by an early 19th-century Brazilian composer is excellent for teaching the Classical style. Set for piano and mixed chorus with minimal divisi, this arrangement is suitable for high school choirs or community groups. 11593425 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.85 An Earth Song—Marques L. A. Garrett. Langston Hughes' text is artistically set with flowing triplets, driving rhythms, and great joy. An active piano accompaniment enhances the texture, and a set of alternative lyrics can make this useful for either spring-themed or general concerts. 11594017 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.75 11594018 TTBB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.75 Echo—Tracy Wong. A musical celebration of human connectivity, this contemporary a cappella concert work is singable, powerful, rhythmic, and contemplative. Reflected in both music and text is the composer's idea that "the coming together of many singers to a single location is also the coming together of many ancestors ... where they would not have intersected before this." 11592386 SATB w/ Percussion . . . . . . . . . 3.65 Effortlessly (from "To Sing of Love: A Triptych")—Taylor Scott Davis. Composed for a wedding, this selection is part of "To Sing of Love: A Triptych." It is a moving tribute to the love that flows from above as well as between all of humanity. The lush harmonies, textures, and violin obbligato beautifully cradle the text from medieval mystic Mechthild of Magdeburg (1207-1297). 11593426 SATB divisi, or SSAATTBB, w/ Solo Violin . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.65 The Family We Find Along the Way—Mark Burrows. "The blessings we breathe in, the bond we believe in - the family we find along the way." With a gospel groove that sits right in the pocket and harmonies that are tons of fun to sing, choirs will love singing this with - and for - one another. Ideal as a closer, choir theme song, graduation feature, or anthem of togetherness, it will be sweetly cherished in any situation. 11595560 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.65 Footprints—Faith Zimmer. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's text encourages singers to work hard, take risks, find adventure, and leave a legacy of inspiration, perseverance, and hope. With memorable melodic themes and an overall sense of mystery, this expressive work is a sophisticated yet accessible option for tenor- bass choirs. 11592986 TTBB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3.20 From Dewy Dreams, My Soul Arise—Matthew Emery. Using the ABA form, the B section temporarily transports the listener to a dreamlike state; the music features a duet between alto saxophone and soprano, while the remaining voices blur into the background as if half awake (and half asleep). The alto saxophone gesture throughout the work uses a variety of motivic ideas, from short fragmentary utterances to more florid lines, to sustain threadlike durations that tie the music together between phrases. The A sections feature homophonic chorale writing, using varying phrase lengths and slight variations in the motivic idea to bring out the poignancy and imagery of the Joyce text. 11593428 SATB w/ Saxophone or Clarinet Obbligato . . . . . . . . . . . 2.65 God Be with You 'Til We Meet Again—Kyle Pederson. The simple yet heartfelt melody for this traditional Irish blessing will resonate with your choir as well as your audience. Additional text by the composer adds depth to the lovely text: "May you know grace and mercy; may you serve as you've been served; may you forgive as you've been forgiven, may you love as you've been loved." An optional guitar or harp/synth part provides atmosphere and a wistful, enchanting quality. This is also available a cappella with optional electric guitar, 11594026. 11594026 SATB A Cappella. . . . . . . . . . . . 2.35 Good Morning—Tara Mack. Setting the text of a well-known American nursery rhyme, this a cappella original work uses shimmering chords, layered voices, and ascending patterns to create an effect of the sun rising, evoking a child's understanding and curiosity about the world around them. It's a lovely lyrical concert selection for more advanced choirs. 11596204 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3.75 Great Is the Sun—Jacob Narverud. Grab your audience's attention with this fiery concert opener with a vibrant text by Robert Louis Stevenson. Rhythmic and canonic, each section of the ensemble is featured, utilizing the full range of divisi choral sonorities in eight parts. Especially compelling if you surround your audience for an enhanced echo effect. 11574654 SSAATTBB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.75 Hallelujah, Amen—arr. Stacey V. Gibbs. Inspired by the famous Handel chorus "Hallelujah, amen," this a cappella setting captures the spirit of the original work along with a fresh, joyful harmonic language. Playful metric changes and rhythmic syncopations make this piece a great teaching tool with high performance value. 11593432 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.65 Hold You, Enfold You—Matthew Emery. Warm cluster harmonies surround this tender poem by Frances Ebbs-Canavan in this original a cappella work for mixed choirs. A soprano descant or solo soars above the texture to create an ethereal and celestial feel that emboldens the statement "So would my love hold you, enfold you, and shield you from harm." 11596664 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.50 Home—Andrew Steffen. "Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home." Sweetly sentimental, John Howard Payne's text is beautifully set in this concert piece that can be effectively programmed for final concerts or graduation events. The verses feature first the upper voices and then the lower in unison before breaking into tender harmonies, and a flowing melody line gently carries the lyrics throughout. 11596665 SSATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.80 New Large Print Edition A Cappella Available via ePrint All Prices in U.S. Dollars & Subject To Publisher Revision 2 Theme: TIME & SPACE Bowie Space Medley—arr.
