Piano and bass parts are written out. 11621728 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 45.00 Riff the Wonderdog—Paul Baker. An easy 12-bar blues in F for the young ensemble that focuses on the essential swing eighth- note rhythm. The chart opens with a 24-bar piano solo (written solo provided) followed by the melody riff which is passed throughout the horns. Two choruses of sax soli lead into the solo section, where written solos are also provided. A 24-bar shout chorus gets everyone swinging. Trumpet to written G. Trombone to F. Piano and bass parts are written out. 11621729 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 45.00 Second Chance—George Shutack. This chart is a winning choice for any program. Perfect for concert or festival! 11615259 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 45.00 Shut It Down!—Brad Ciechomski. This fun-filled swing ride cooks from the opening bass lick to the final brass punch. You'll find lots of dynamic contrasts that will show off the abilities of the ensemble. 11615241 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 45.00 Sing, Sing, Sing—Louis Prima/arr. Vince Gassi. Accessible and fun to rehearse and play, this timeless swing tune contains all the key ingredients for a real crowd pleaser! It features the iconic drum pattern as it recurs throughout and the solid swing style that has become so familiar over the decades. Other features include easy brass ranges (with trumpet 1 to written E top space), a written drum solo and a big shout chorus as the modulation brings it all home. Here's a great chart that will be an essential part of your jazz ensemble library. Optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. 10277443 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 44.00 Soft and Easy—Terry White. Aptly named, this laid-back swing ballad is a wonderful way to introduce young musicians to this iconic Basie style. Once your band can play an accent on the "and" of one and "fat" (not rushed!) quarter notes on beats three and four, they will be well on their way to sounding great playing music in this style. 11501885 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 45.00 Softly, As in a Morning Sun—Sigmund Roomburg/arr. Rick Stitzel. Hip and accessible, this medium swing chart is based around a ii-V-I progression in C minor. Lots of great unison rhythmic and melodic writing makes ensemble playing comfortable for young players and gives the melody to all parts. Written solos for saxes and flute. Optional flute, clarinet, F horn, tuba, and vibraphone parts are included. 11593013 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 50.00 St. James Infirmary—arr. Mike Collins- Dowden. This chart provides younger jazz ensembles with the opportunity to pay homage to one of the most historic jazz tunes. Starting with a slow and bluesy dirge featuring your trumpet, the chart picks up into a nice, medium tempo swing and features an open solo section before returning to the New Orleans dirge feel featuring the trumpet soloist once more. With limited brass ranges and accessible rhythms, this is a great historic chart for young jazz bands! 10456840 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 50.00 String of Pearls—Jerry Gray/arr. Mike Lewis. Arranger Mike Lewis has taken this swinging Glenn Miller hit and arranged it for easy jazz ensemble. His clever reworking of the solo sections and the descending harmony line makes this chart very playable for the young jazz musician. The trumpet 1 range is to written F top line and it features instrumentation options from 9 to 19 players. This is one of the ultimate crowd pleasers and it's ideal for any performance! 10049681 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 42.00 Sundown—John L. "Wes" Montgomery/arr. Terry White. Here's a nice straight-ahead swing chart perfect for the grade 1 level. Suggested solos are written for trumpet 1, alto 1, and trombone 1. Enjoy! (3:50) 11619653 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 47.00 A Swing and a Miss—Charles Booker. A Basie-style laid-back swing chart that will be as fun to hear as it is to perform. Your students will want to play this one over and over. It's a great learning chart that will improve the ensemble sound of your band. An exceptional chart! 11621844 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 68.00 The Thumb—Wes Montgomery/arr. Terry White. This classic blues swinger is a perfect fit for your young band. The first trumpet range is to written F-sharp top line, written-out solos indicated for alto sax, tenor sax, and optionally trombone, and a great shout chorus. Great for teaching ensemble hits as well as swing style and blues form, this very accessible chart works really well for any band. 11511956 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 47.00 Uptown Throwdown—Zachary Smith. Starting off with a hard-swinging sax soli, this is a very cool shuffle-swing groove. Written solos are provided for trombone and alto. There is a stop-time interlude, a big shout chorus, and an optional vocal shout- out too! This is a powerful chart everyone will enjoy - so get that trombone plunger out! 11355022 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 42.00 Work Song—Nat Adderley/arr. Terry White. Cannonball Adderley made it famous, brother Nat composed it and now Terry White provides a terrific swing chart for younger jazz groups. It swings hard, features a catchy, easy to play melody, and is mature sounding. Suggested solos are provided for alto 1 and trumpet 1, plus there's a great interlude and shout chorus. Trumpet 1 top note is written F-sharp top line. Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. Highly recommended! 10303038 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 42.00 Zack's Zydeco Two-Step—Zachary Smith/arr.. Oh yeah, a fun and happy chart with the Zydeco groove played around 150 BPM. This chart is simply a fun and musical joy for the band and for the audience. (3:45) 11619655 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 47.00 Zephyr—Lachlan Davidson. Easy to listen to, nice to play, and just a little bit groovy, here's a simple bossa for your students to play. 11624809 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Blues & Swing Medium-Easy 5.4 on the Richter Scale—Larry Neeck. 5.4 on the Richter Scale is an upbeat modern-sounding swing chart that really cooks! Hip 5/4 blues sections are contrasted with a straight-ahead swingin' 4/4 blues, which gives this chart its unique appeal. There are plenty of opportunities for your soloists to improvise on 4/4 blues changes, or with the written suggested solos included. It will sound great with full or reduced instrumentation. Tired of the same old blues? 5.4 on the Richter Scale is a really fresh chart for your next concert! 10050244 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Abracadabra—Larry Barton. The magic of this slinky swinger will put your audience under a spell! The lead wind players start things out on the head, but before long the full band is jamming along. It's an "in your face" chart that's all about attitude! 2472521 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 50.00 5975276 CD-Barnhouse Jazz Ensemble 2002-Med . 9.95 5975084 CD-Barnhouse Jazz Ensemble 2002-Ez . . . 9.95 Afternoon—Pat Metheny/arr. Bob Curnow. Here is a slow, swinging, lovely, warm, relaxed chart in the style of that famous Neal Hefti swing ballad! The arrangement is subtle and easy to play, and there are not a lot of pieces by Pat Metheny that swing in this way. The arrangement suggests flugelhorns throughout, although trumpets would work just fine. There is solo space for alto saxophone and trumpet/flugel. Very nice! 10162086 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Afternoon in Paris—John Lewis/arr. Mark Taylor. John Lewis (composer, pianist, and founder of the acclaimed Modern Jazz Quartet) penned Afternoon in Paris in the 1950s and it has remained a jazz standard ever since. This nicely crafted version for developing jazz ensembles opens with a small group on the head and drums on brushes. Solos for trumpet and tenor follow with suggested solos and scale/chord sheets provided, along with dynamic full ensemble statements. Highly recommended! 10098783 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 50.00 Ain't Misbehavin'—Fats Waller & Harry Brooks/arr. Dallas C. Burke. This laid-back swing treatment of the jazz standard has so many dynamic moments that your band will love! The band goes from a lazy feel to blowing the roof off the auditorium with some big ensemble hits that reach out and grab the audience throughout the chart. Includes written or ad-lib solos from the alto sax and trumpet. 11624012 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Another One for Ray—Lyman Medeiros & Ryan Fraley. Let the bass take the spotlight in this straight-ahead swing chart with a classic jazz feel. Written to showcase the upright bass, it keeps the groove locked in while the band provides solid support with a brass interlude and a sax soli. This chart swings hard and gives your bassist a well- deserved moment to shine. Top trumpet note: G5 11618956 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Artistry in Rhythm—Stan Kenton/arr. Paul Murtha. Composed and recorded by Stan Kenton in the 1940s, Artistry in Rhythm became his signature and a true classic from the big-band era. Paul Murtha has skillfully adapted and truncated this for younger players while maintaining the flavor and energy of the original. Solo piano starts things off followed by the iconic trombone solo in the medium Latin section. The exciting double time swing section features the entire ensemble, then the maestoso theme returns to close things out. Impressive! 10374166 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 50.00 Attack of the Killer Tomatoes—arr. Ralph Ford. Crazy title? It's from the movie of the same name and is a tongue-in-cheek swing chart adapted from a much more difficult chart by Gordon Goodwin for his Big Phat Band. Arranged by Ralph Ford for developing players, it will be a hit with both the band and the audience. No improvised solos, just ensemble playing and some great section solis. This will be a fun chart for any performance! Highly recommended! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10071882 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 48.00
