Christmas Fantasia—arr. Martha Lynn
Thompson. Four favorite Christmas
melodies are combined into one amazing
setting perfect for any holiday or worship
program. Beginning with descending chords
reminiscent of tower bells, the timeless
SUSSEX CAROL melody is heard first on
handchimes, then handbells. The piece
then segues to a malleted and rhythmic
OLD
BRETON
melody that becomes an ostinato
pattern supporting an augmented

melody rung in octaves. Descending
bell chords reemerge and

is featured before bell peals end the piece.

Coventry Carol—arr. Cathy Moklebust. This
easy setting of the haunting Christmas tune
sounds much bigger and more difficult than
it is. While the rhythms are all Level 1 and
there are no bell changes, varied techniques
and tempo changes add slightly to the
complexity. Singing bell, finger cymbals, and
bells malleted off the table create a mystical
backdrop against which the rung melody
is heard. Martellato is used effectively
to convey "Herod the king in his raging."
Available in compatible 2-3 and 3-5 octave
settings; use for worship, concert, or festival.

Dona Nobis Pacem (with Infant Holy,

with the simple DONA NOBIS melody,
the texture gradually develops by adding
contrapuntal lines until the Infant Holy
theme is introduced. Two key changes carry
into a gorgeous ending as both melodies
are heard before fading into silence. With
the theme of peace merged with the Polish
carol, this piece will be effective in concert
or service.

Fantasia on Come, Thou Long-Expected
Jesus—arr. Carol Lynn Mizell. When this
piece premiered as the prelude to a Lessons
and Carols service, four trombones played
from the balcony with the handbells and solo
handbell tree located in the chancel area. If
you are short a few trombones, a reduction of
the trombone parts for organ or synthesizer is
also available. The solo part has options for
a handbell tree or solo treble instrument (C,
B flat, or E flat) or solo bass C instrument.
Enjoy the antiphonal effects of the trombones
and the bells as they present the
HYFRYDOL
tune with interwoven interludes.

This celebratory original beautifully conveys
the joy of Advent and Christmas seasons
beginning with hints of the melody rung in
repeated octaves leading into the full-choir
main theme. The addition of the optional
synthesizer adds depth to the music. A
key change segues to a variation of the
main theme now rung on handchimes until
it leads back to the opening material then
on to the dynamic ending. Addition of bar
chime, jingle bells and cymbal rolls add to
this creative setting.
