You can't help but smile when you play and hear Tonight, We Tango. At around 112 bpm, this tongue-in-cheek chart is tons of fun and has a melody that just won't go away, plus the groove is one that people will insist on dancing to. It was arranged to feature Grammy-nominated accordionist Alex Meixner, but in the event you don't have an accordionist in the band (really?), you can feature any of your sauciest players on the optional B-flat, E-flat and Bass Clef solo parts. The solo parts are a combination of written passages and improvised choruses that will demonstrate the versatility of your ensemble. Students will get the opportunity to practice blues form, and solid ensemble writing will help this chart come together with a minimum amount of rehearsal time. Playable with two trumpets and two trombones, your band and audience won't get enough of the infectious groove! This one's a New Orleans-style chart that will have the bayou bouncing! It's an ideal opener and a great way for young jazzers to learn about the groove. Originally composed for Weather Report and released in 1967, Joe Zawinul's quintessential jazz fusion standard has been recorded by countless artists through the years. This chart is a slightly truncated version for young players that still retains the dynamic feel and sound of the original. Ideal for young players, it's scored for standard jazz ensemble with no solos but is playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. In a playful disco style, this very easy chart of the KC and the Sunshine Band hit from 1975 features fun parts for every section.
