This wonderful jazz standard by Thad Jones moves smoothly through a few styles - first as a ballad, then as a moderate jazz waltz, then as a bossa in four, and back to the jazz waltz feel - all the while keeping the beauty and integrity of the original. Written or ad lib solos are for alto sax and trumpet. Gorgeous chord voicings and tasty contrapuntal lines support this beautiful tune in a very tasteful way! 2701948 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 n A Child Is BornThad Jones/arr. Mike Carubia. Thad Jones' most popular and unforgettable composition will provide your players with a great ballad experience. Mike Carubia's tasteful arrangement captures all the charm of the original without the difficulty, and features a written piano and optional flute melody to start the second chorus. Hey rock fans, here's a powerful rock ballad made famous by Journey, arranged for young jazz ensemble. From the opening line, this chart is magical to the band and the audience. It has no jazz solos, but if you have a guitar player, the arrangement has an optional written guitar melodic line that's also written for trumpets. A great classic and highly recommended! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10093155 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 46.00 Embraceable YouGeorge Gershwin/arr. Roy Phillippe. Gorgeous, simply gorgeous! This tender, sweet arrangement captures the essence of the Gershwin ballad. Your students can get some good experience recognizing the diminished chords found here. Stylistically it's right on the money, yet it's very playable. A stunning chart! 2443166 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 n Europa (Earth's Cry, Heaven's Smile)Santana & Coster/arr. Victor Lopez. Europa is a terrific rock ballad for your tenor sax soloist with no improvisation, and is all written and they just don't get any better than this. The features include a lead trumpet range to written D fourth line, lots of unison ensemble passages plus optional flute, clarinet, auxiliary percussion and vibes parts. A fail-safe tenor showcase that is a huge confidence builder. Our highest recommendation! 10355586 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 44.00 H A Gentle TouchPaul Clark. This just might be the best laid-back jazz ballad to come along since Li'l Darlin'! After a short intro, the melody is played by a quartet made up of your best players... trumpet, alto, tenor and trombone. The whole band joins in for some great ensemble work (with the trumpets never leaving the staff) which leads to an easy, but very cool written piano solo. Then more great ensemble and finally the piano is again featured at the end. The piano part is completely written out and the right hand has a single note line throughout. On top of all this, it will even sound great with reduced instrumentation. There's nothing high, loud or fast here, but what a great way to impress an audience by showcasing your band's ability to play with A Gentle Touch! Our highest recommendation! 10032020 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 Goodbye My HeartMike Smukal. A haunting lyrical melody, lush voicings and dynamic contrasts are but a few of the winning features of this alto sax feature. This ballad at an accessible grade level also has some spots where the full band really sparkles and a chorus where the lead trumpet shines and gives the soloist a little break. The solo is entirely notated and changes are provided for embellishment or improvisation if desired. This chart is a winner! Highly recommended! 10011928 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 44.00 I Dreamed a Dream (from "Les Miserables") arr. Roger Holmes. Here's the touching ballad from the landmark musical and recent motion picture "Les Miserables" in a nicely paced and solidly scored arrangement for younger jazz ensembles. With no solos, it's a beautiful change of pace for any performance occasion. Highly recommended! 10374174 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 n I Remember CliffordBenny Golson/arr. Mike Vax. One of, if not the most tasteful jazz ballads ever written, this is a superb showcase for your flugelhorn or trumpet soloist. Exceptionally nice! 2086288 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 H If I Could FlyMike Smukal. Feature your tenor sax soloist on this lush ballad that has a hint of Latin. This chart weaves and contrasts minor and major harmonies and is a superb chart for developing players with the lead trumpet range only to top line written F. Additionally, it's playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentation. The tenor solo is all written out and the rhythm section parts are very clear. An excellent vehicle for your tenor sax player. Highly recommended! 10028079 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 44.00 n In a Sentimental MoodDuke Ellington/arr. Mark Taylor. No one handles Ellington for younger ensembles better than Mark Taylor, and this well-crafted arrangement shows why. Although Mark uses a written trumpet solo on the bridge, the main theme is handled by the full ensemble playing primarily tutti rhythms. Included are solos for trumpet and tenor (written or ad lib.) then a brief double time swing section featuring the entire ensemble. We think the Duke himself would have liked this one. Highly recommended! 2702198 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 l Is That All There Is?Daryl McKenzie. At around 72 bpm, Is That All There Is? is a beautifully melodic ballad solo feature for tenor saxophone. The solo part is fully written with chord symbols provided for improv opportunities as desired. Throughout the chart the ensemble alternates sections with the soloist providing rest for the soloist and exposure for the ensemble. There are optional parts for expanded instrumentations, the rhythm section parts are notated, and an optional vibes part is included. Here's a nice ballad at an accessible grade level! 10459310 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 n JamieSammy Nestico. Recorded by Count Basie on the album Have a Nice Day, this expressive ballad is a study in subtle ensemble textures and colors, with muted brass, delicate piano fills, and a directed ending that closes in a whisper. The rhythm section parts are partially notated with chords cued. 544957 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 4 LaurieCarl Strommen. This Carl Strommen ballad is written as an alto sax solo feature, but also includes solo parts to allow a trumpet or trombone to play the solo part. This classy rock ballad allows you to feature one of your best players and provide a delightful change of pace to any performance.
