Peter Blair. Arranger Peter Blair has taken the hot Gordon Goodwin chart Act Your Age and revised it for developing players. "Slick and funky" describes this very accessible arrangement. There are written solos for 1st alto (cued for 2nd alto) and a 1st trumpet solo cued in all four trumpet parts. The lead trumpet has a written A above the staff, but technically this chart is not difficult and will come together quickly to earn a spot in your program. The band will love it, too! Highly recommended! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10093092 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . ME 46.00 H Aftershock!—Larry Barton. This funky rock chart sure is easy enough...but we won't tell anyone! It's bold and contemporary with a big sound and huge impact, along with reasonable ranges and technical demands. An open solo section with written suggested solos and very easy changes will really build confidence in improvising. And, the most amazing thing is that such a playable chart sounds so darn hot! 2347961 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . ME 34.00 4 Another Great Day—Mark Taylor. Written in a simmering medium tempo, this distinctive funk chart opens with the bass establishing the groove gradually joined by the rest of the rhythm section. A small combo of soprano sax, baritone sax, trumpet and trombone takes the first statement followed by the full ensemble on intricate unison lines as well as tutti ensemble punches and riffs. The solo space is reserved for tenor sax. Soprano sax is required. 10386208 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . A 60.00 Arnge Drank (Orange Juice with Attitude)— Paul Baker. Wow... orange drink with an attitude! Texas writer Paul Baker presents an outstanding funk chart beginning with a piano riff to set up the rhythm groove before the trumpet and altos hit with the melody. Trombones and low saxes support with counterpoint. After the trombones take it through the bridge the saxes again state the melody in a dramatic stop time section that moves into the trumpet and trombone solos. After a drum solo, the bari and bass trombone shine as they set the funky foundation for the shout chorus. A return of the piano riff sets up the final melodic statement and dramatic coda. Trumpet range to written High C. Trombone to G. Pure fun, and highly recommended! 10369423 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . M 45.00 Birdland—Josef Zawinul/arr. Victor Lopez. Just listen to this chart and you know you have to have it as Victor Lopez brings the original Weather Report version to life for jazz ensembles. All the ingredients are here, plus solo space (written or improvised) for alto 1 and/ or trumpet 2, nice chord voicings throughout, and the lead trumpet top note is only a written G on top of the staff. Very easy to assemble and perform, this will be a hit every time! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10277740 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . M 50.00 4 Blues for Miles—Freddie Hubbard/arr. Mike Carubia. Here's a great chart on Freddie Hubbard's Blues for Miles that really cooks! Freddie describes this tune as "hip hop funk" on the original CD also entitled Blues for Miles. This solid arrangement begins with the trumpets introducing the very funky unison melody followed by a cool stop-time chorus for the sax section. Solos follow for the soloists of choice on slightly altered B-flat blues changes and then an exciting rock-flavored shout chorus takes it back to the head. Including an optional flute part, this is an outstanding choice for any performance opportunity! Highly recommended! 10458670 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . M 50.00 H Brick House—arr. Paul Murtha. It is absolutely impossible to find a funkier tune than this R&B hit from the 1970s courtesy of The Commodores. This chart has it all, from the trademark bass riff to the ensemble punches and melodic hooks. Bring down the house as you groove on this one! 2479363 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . .
