In 1987 Miles Davis took home the Grammy award

Finally, the music of Steely Dan comes to the world of big bands with this
outstanding arrangement! Originally arranged for the HR Big Band (Germany),

l
FM—Walter Becker & Donald Fagan/arr. Fred Sturm. This Steely Dan
rocker was arranged for the WDR Big Band (Germany), and is worthy of any
band's library. In typical Sturm fashion, the beginning of FM is a kaleidoscope
of independent fragments culminating with the original Steely Dan introduction
as it moves into the melody played by clarinets. While this chart certainly rocks,
there is a depth and warmth in the stating of the melody before it rips into a
tenor saxophone solo. There is also space for a shredding guitar or trumpet solo.
Trumpets double on flugelhorns and the woodwind parts include clarinets 1 and
2, tenor sax 1/clarinet 3, soprano sax/tenor sax 2 and bass clarinet/baritone sax.
Ending in clever fashion, this chart will be great for any band wanting to give their
audiences something new!

Donald Fagan's voice of melody. Contrasted with full ensemble writing underneath
a relaxed samba feel, this chart is the perfect addition to any program looking to
add variety and enjoyment. There is also solo space for guitar and/or piano.
