4 The Skye Boat Song—arr. Darmon Meader.
This is superb! Darmon Meader's incomparable
arranging skill is evident in every measure of
this gorgeous setting of the traditional Scottish
folk song. Lovely, lyrical piano writing and lush
harmonic colors in the voices distinguish this
as one of the very best folk song arrangements
available for mixed voices. Highly recommended!

4e So Danco Samba (Jazz 'n' Samba)—Antonio
Carlos Jobim/arr. Roger Emerson. Here is the
perfect way to introduce your young singers to
the Brazilian jazz samba, or bossa nova. Just
enough repetition, some simple scat singing,
and English subtext are a recipe for success.
There's even a jazz tenor sax on the recorded
accompaniment track, a tip of the hat to the great
Stan Getz, who started the bossa nova craze
in the US back in 1964. This is a great teaching
piece, too, with a full page of performance notes,
including translation and pronunciation guide.

4t A Social Madrigal—Nathan Howe. In this
e clever madrigal novelty, 16th-century harmony
meets 21st-century technology! It sings the
story of a couple falling in love, with some help
from Google, Facebook, and Twitter. Performed
a cappella or with optional piano, it is simply
delightful in the way the words of today are sung
as though by singers in Shakespeare's time.
Optional narration is provided to add to the fun!
Highly recommended!

4e Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child
(Traditional Spiritual)—arr. Jay Althouse.
Adapted from Jay's popular American Folk Songs
for Solo Singers, this remarkable new choral
arrangement works beautifully! The languid
minor-key melody is passed from soloist to choir
and part to part, often accompanied by mournful
background vocals. Not difficult to perform,
but appropriately weighty, this is a very tasteful
setting that will be one of your choir's favorites!
Highly recommended!

Premiered at the ACDA National Convention
2015, this piece marks the first double choir
arrangement for a spiritual. In a few short years
Stacy Gibbs has earned the reputation as the
most sought-after arranger of spirituals in the
U.S. Stacey's writing is always a pleasure to
sing but this one is special, with the antiphonal
choirs playing off one another and wailing sounds
building a climactic finish. The arrangement is
superb and well worth the time. Your audiences

which transforms through various key changes,
symbolizing life's always changing pulse.

e There is Peace—Jim Papoulis. The essence
of this work, in a world of conflict and violence,
is the need for a deep understanding that peace
can come from all of us. After the opening phrase,
"Look in the eyes of the children, feel the touch of
their hands, there is peace," the verse enters, with
a full, yet still gentle sound. The refrain is more
celebratory, followed by a quiet bridge and an
ending which is calm and introspective, much like
the opening.
