The solos can also be played as unisons in any combination of instruments or sections. Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations, it's easy to put together, very effective and has great appeal for the young player. Highly recommended! 10028048 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . .VE 40.00 l Funk Tank—Lars Halle. Polar Vortex by Victor Lopez is designed to guarantee young jazz ensemble success! With a haunting melody, it will capture the imagination with a jazz/rock, even eighth note style at a tempo of about 126 bpm. There's a written alto sax solo, the trumpet 1 range is to E top space, and everything you need is written out to ensure successful rehearsals and performances. Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. Check it out! 10513988 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . .VE 40.00 4 Red Clay—Freddie Hubbard/arr. Mike Kamuf. A gem of a chart, here's Freddie Hubbard's Red Clay arranged for developing jazz bands. Characteristically, it's a straight-eighths groove at 132 bpm with written or ad lib solos for tenor sax and trumpet 2. A more subtle and quieter interlude adds variety and interest, and a unique and effective rhythm section break featuring the bassist leads to the return of the head. The trumpet 1 range is to written G on top of the staff and a nice shout chorus further adds to the fun. Playable with optional expanded instrumentations. A great jazz standard superbly arranged! 10513883 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 48.00 4 Steam Whistle—Les Sabina. This cookin' chart is tuneful, funky and is set in a half-time feel. A written or improvised solo is provided for alto saxophone with the accessible chord progression allowing the improviser to solo using the notes in a concert E-flat minor pentatonic scale (Eb, Gb, Ab, Bb, Db). Interesting material is well distributed throughout the various instrumental families, the parts are well articulated, the ranges are reasonable, and the rhythm section parts are notated with chords symbols provided. A modulation heightens the excitement, and it's playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. A strong chart with a great groove! 10515808 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 45.00 l Street Smart—Doug Beach & George Shutack. Take a strong R & B groove, add a fun-to-play melody with a catchy hook, stir in some solid ensemble writing, and you have the recipe for a rock chart that will be a hit with students and audiences alike. The solo section features a 16-bar blues that will be a great vehicle for young soloists to develop their jazz chops. Scored at the very easy level for five horns with rhythm section and expandable to full big band, there are written or improvised solos for all players and optional parts for flute, clarinet and horn in F are included. 10568031 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . .VE 42.00 4 There's the Rub—Gordon Goodwin/arr. Peter Blair. It's funky, it's accessible, it's a Gordon Goodwin tune arranged for the developing jazz ensemble! It's half-time funk with the tempo at about 188 bpm with written-out solos available for any saxophone. The lead trumpet range is to written G on top of the staff and optional parts are included for expanded instrumentations, and it's a no-fail crowd-pleaser! Our highest recommendation! 10513879 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 48.00 H Watermelon Man—Herbie Hancock/arr. Mike Kamuf. Oh yeah! This is a crowd pleaser and a band pleaser... a win-win! Fun, funky, hip, groovy — call it what you want, this chart is excellent in every way... and if you have a decent bari player, he or she will really love this one. There are written solos for alto and tenor sax, a stop-time without rhythm section for the saxes, a fantastic interlude section, a monster shout chorus, and some short drum fills... what's not to like!? Very highly recommended! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10071893 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 48.00 n Whiplash—Hank Levy/arr. Erik Morales. Featured in the 2014 movie "Whiplash," depicting the relationship between an ambitious student musician and an abusive, yet respected instructor, this chart is a super-exciting work in 7/4 composed by Hank Levy and arranged by Erik Morales. Don't be intimidated by the meter... it's challenging, but after a few minutes it feels quite natural and the students will totally groove on it. The melody is stated by 2nd trumpet and 1st alto with solo space for both on easy chord changes. Articulation is critical and the rhythm section may want to spend some quality time together. The lead trumpet range is to written D above the staff. This is a unique but very desirable chart to have in your library. You won't regret playing Whiplash! 10068794 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . MA 60.00 Go to cart
