There are written solos for tenor sax and trumpet, and the lead trumpet range goes to a top line F with optional G on top of the staff. It's all here... a jazz calypso style, ensemble, percussion, feel and drive! Recorded by the Cannonball Adderley Quintet in the 1960s, Jive Samba became one of Nat Adderley's best-known standards. Arranged here for little big band, and in a moderate and relaxed cha-cha style, this chart features a duet of trumpet and alto sax and later a creative shout chorus using mixed meters. Instrumentation: six horns (ATB saxes, two trumpets, one trombone) plus four rhythm with optional additional parts for alto, tenor and trombone. It simmers nicely throughout and the percussion interludes are a blast! There are two auxiliary percussion parts, plus optional parts for expanded instrumentations. A lazy intro for trumpet and alto explodes into a fierce samba that develops into a mambo later on, then back to the samba feel. Turn your first trumpet player loose on this and drive your audience into a frenzy! This will go over big for contest and festival performances, too! This arrangement of Tito Puente's Latin-rock classic is an absolute "must" for young jazzers! Made famous by Santana, and loaded with Latin- American spirit, this chart is perfect for teaching Latin style, while the simple chord structure takes the mystery out of improvising. It's hot! 2471441 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . E 40.00 4 Pollo Rojo (The Red Chicken)—Les Sabina. We haven't heard a better original Latin tune at this grade level than Pollo Roja! It's a cha-cha to be performed at around 146 bpm, has easy brass ranges, includes a written or ad lib alto sax solo, a cool melody, section solis, and it's fun to hear and play. This is a well-crafted chart that will guarantee maximum interest from players and audiences! Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations.
