How Can I Keep from SingingRobert Lowry/
arr. Cathy Moklebust. Particular attention is paid to
the word "singing" through rhythmic and chordal
punctuation, and through use of the Singing Bell
technique, in this perfect choice for any worship
service. Both versions of the tune are used:
Robert Lowry's original lyric version in 3/4 meter,
which uses plenty of LV and the optional use of
handchimes; and the more contemporary version
which is written in a rhythmic, energetic 4/4 meter,
employs the use of malleted bells, and features
the hymn tune played in a round. Editions for 2-3
octaves and 3-5 octaves are available, and they are
compatible for massed ringing.

arrangement of this lovely Natalie Sleeth tune. The
introduction features bells and piano antiphonally,

accompaniment for contrast. The second verse has
more motion with the hymn melody in octaves. The
antiphonal theme returns and leads into Amazing
Grace with chimes on the melody accompanied by
malleted suspended handbells. After a modulation
to C major, the final statement of Hymn of Promise
returns as a handbell solo and crescendos with
piano to a brilliant declaration of faith.
