Evocation of the Spirit: Two Settings
of the Ave Maria—Sergei Rachmaninoff
& Jacques Arcadelt/arr. Ken Singleton.
Austere and beautiful, these two Ave Marias were
written about 400 years apart for Masses in both
the Catholic and Russian Orthodox Churches. The
intensely spiritual nature of these two works makes
for a fine musical set that can be played together
in any order or separately. These lofty settings
serve as valuable and important transcriptions to
the band idiom.

Morpheus—Randall Standridge. In mythology,
Morpheus is the god of dreams, and this work paints
a peaceful dreamscape of sound where instrumental
colors and textures shift and weave as they blend
into one another. The meandering ostinatos and
chordal shifts represent the sometimes illogical and
often startling way dreams can change and evolve
throughout the night.
