Dan Forrest's SATB divisi setting of a poem by the late Jake Adam York is simply stunning! Both the poet and composer were inspired by the old hymn Abide with Me and elements of that tune can be found throughout the composition, though the poem remains secular. The music is homophonic in nature and leaves the listener with a sense of, to quote the composer, "the warmth of a summer's evening." The piano part plays a vital role in the coloring of the piece and seamlessly connects the choral entrances. Abide is a rare and beautiful piece of art; we give it our highest recommendation! 10643313 SATB. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.65 4 Agnus Dei (Requiem)—Jay Althouse. This setting of the traditional Agnus Dei Latin text from the Requiem Mass was specifically written to honor the memory of the numerous victims of the senseless mass shooting tragedies of the summer of 2016. With a very open harmonic texture, almost a cappella with its minimalist piano accompaniment, this setting weaves between consonance and dissonance with simple contrary vocal lines over an insistent single note that tolls in the piano until all voices combine in meditative, somber harmony. This piece will evoke a reflective moment in your concert or worship setting. A pronunciation guide and translation are given for the Latin text. 10751895 SATB. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1.90 4e All Days Are Nights—Ruth Morris Gray.
