This arrangement of I Hope In Time a Change Will Come Along came about through a desire to hear and play more than one chorus of this stunningly beautiful blues tinged melody by Oliver Nelson. The basis for this new arrangement was Nelson's original chart, but this one has two choruses, not one. Part of the second chorus can be improvised. The soloist throughout is soprano saxophone (could be played on tenor saxophone or trumpet if desired). This is a slow, gorgeous ballad with wonderful contrasts that will thrill your audiences! Here is a great sounding arrangement that features a written solo for alto saxophone, tasteful ensemble accompaniment lines, and later a written solo for trumpet. The introduction features the trombones, followed by the alto solo with piano, development, more alto solo space, some double time sections, then back to the ballad tempo with the solo, and a big ensemble ending.
