Foreword
The parable known as the prodigal son is a story most people heard as children and could retell quite easily. It is a simple story Jesus told to help us understand the unconditional love offered to us by God. How fun it was for us to recreate this parable in a circus setting. The story is the same, the names are totally fictitious, but the message is the faithful message from the Bible—that our God is a God of mercy, and that Jesus is the true "older brother" that we all need—who seeks us out and brings us home to the Father.
The songs in this musical will entertain, yes, but they also communicate some powerful biblical truths. "When the Circus Come to Town" kicks off the story with a wave of excitement! One of my favorite songs, "Life's a Circus," provides a wonderful background to the crooked path our prodigal "clown" chose. As he returns to the circus and to his father, we celebrate as the father welcomes him back during the joyous song, "Home."
Thank you for working with kids and giving them a chance to share this story on stage. You are helping train up worship leaders for tomorrow! I pray God will richly bless all the hours you spend with your kids' choirs.
God Bless, Cyndi Nine
