Italian title Tu scendi dalle stelle, this was originally
written in the earlier part of the 18th Century by the
Neopolitan priest, Alfonso Liguori. Also known by
its original title, Quanno nascette Ninno, the melody
is popularly associated in Italy with the zampogna,
a large bagpipe, and is known as Carol of the
Bagpipers. Arranged in a gentle pastoral style,
this arrangement of the carol offers a smooth and
expressive melodic line set in a lilting compound
meter with a flowing piano accompaniment.

a song about the gift of a tiny child that suggests

about our renewed hope and how light now shines
because Christmas is a new and refreshing gift; our
hearts are renewed, and our hope is renewed. This
joyful reflection was written for Christmas, but can
be sung at any time of year as a song of hope.
