Made famous by the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis band, this accessible version has a gospel rock groove that fits perfectly. Toss in the optional parts to include vibes and you have a fine chart. With only two chords in the solo section, it's ideal for developing players and/or additional solos. The solos are written for piano, trumpet and tenor sax with modest brass ranges and a sweet shout chorus. It's been play- tested with great success and is an excellent chart all around! Bob Curnow takes this great Pat Metheny tune and works it into a marvelous chart for big band. Quirky and featuring a bit of a retro sound, this up-tempo theme is immediately recognizable to anyone in the gaming world. Roger Holmes. Originally released by the Electric Light Orchestra in 1978, this rock hit has been thrust back into the limelight thanks to its inclusion on numerous movie soundtracks, notably the opening sequence of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." The driving groove sets up the catchy melody, and as the chart builds the groove just gets stronger. Audience participation during the handclapping section will have the whole house rocking. Okay, it's chicken time again! Kris Berg's highly successful series of "chicken" charts have proven to be funk favorites year after year. Party Peeps is very cool with its lower-voices groove and funky melodic lines. The solos are written or improvised for tenor sax 1 and trumpet 2. Also features an effective solo for drums over stop-time horns. Plus, it's playable with optional reduced instrumentation, and there are optional parts included for flute and vibes. This laid-back gospel-style rock tune starts with a duet between alto sax and trumpet before the rest of the band gets cranking.
