In Your Own Sweet Way—Dave Brubeck/
arr. Annie Booth. Check out this gorgeous
Brubeck melody set in an easy swing
groove around 120 BPM. Featuring
your lead alto player on the melody with
suggested written-out solo space. Lead
trumpet range is to A above the staff, and
all the usual optional parts, including flute
and vibes. A tasty chart! (3:15)

Indiana (Back Home Again in Indiana)—
arr. Greg Yasinitsky. Greg Yasinitsky has
made this great jazz classic into an up-
tempo, flag-wavin' swinger. This excellent
chart features terrific sax solis, a written or
ad lib tenor solo, some stop-time interludes,
and a rousing shout chorus. A fine opener
or closer, it also includes optional parts
for expanded instrumentations. Highly
recommended!

Intro to Art—Bret Zvacek. This hip and
swinging chart is a tribute to the legendary
hard-bop drummer Art Blakey, who led one
of the most important groups in jazz history
from 1955-1990: Art Blakey and the Jazz
Messengers. This chart is a perfect way to
introduce young players to this group and
their style of music.

It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got
That Swing)—Duke Ellington/arr. Ralph
Ford. You may think this very clever chart
is all swing, but it begins as Latin then
alternates with a swing feel. The tempo
is bright at around 190-200 bpm with
suggested solos for trumpet and tenor sax,
a few piano montunos, and a big shout
chorus leading to a huge ending closing
this fine chart appropriately. Additional
wind parts and a vibes part are included for
optional expanded instrumentations. Highly
recommended!

It's Oh, So Nice—Sammy Nestico. As
recorded on the great Basie-Straight
Ahead album of 1968 by Count Basie,
this swing outing features solid section
and full ensemble writing, brass buckets,
sax scoops, drum fills, and piano in the
solo role. The tempo is not taxing with the
quarter equaling 120; however, paying
careful attention to dynamics will be
especially important. The rhythm section
parts are partially notated with chords cued.

It's Oh, So Nice (Full Score Edition)—
Sammy Nestico. This is the sound and
groove that helped define the Count Basie
Orchestra for a decade. Medium swing,
brass in bucket mutes, and smooth-as-silk
chord changes are at the heart of this chart.
It flows along at an understated simmer
and then jumps up at you for a brief phrase
before it settles down again.
11576717 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 60.00
Javelin—Sam Fagaly. Nice modern piece.
Very well written and conceived. Solo
space for 1st Tenor and copious drum fills in
the out chorus. Lead TPT up to written high
E (D concert). A good modern sounding
medium swinger.
11622175 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 75.00
Johnny One-Note—Lorenz Hart and
Richard Rogers/arr. Jophn Wasson. A
masterful arrangement of this classic
standard. All sections get plenty of turns
at both melody and hip accompaniment
figures and the rhythm section packs
a tight swinging groove with subtle
variations that keep things interesting. All
this while maintaining accessibility. A great
chart that can be put together on minimal
rehearsal time. Written solos and changes
for Tenor 1 and Trumpet 2. Lead Trumpet
plays up to optional high C and Lead Bone
plays up to F.
11617954 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00
Juego de niños—Toshi Clinch. This cha-
cha-cha is built around a small number
of rhythmic cells commonly found in the
style. It was composed to demystify Latin
music at the high school level, while
also providing a chord progression that
allows any level of player to learn how to
improvise. Throughout the piece there are
references to two great Cuban composers,
Cachao Lopez and Arsenio Rodriguez, as
well as the well-known American composer
Tito Puente.
11624814 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 60.00
Laid Back Summer—George Shutack.
Here's a fantastic laid-back swing chart in
a 12/8 feel with a slow grooving melody that
you won't get out of your head. First-rate
ensemble scoring and a relaxed groove will
chill your players while they learn to swing.
Solos for trumpet and alto sax.
11561663 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00
Later...—Craig Skeffington. An intense
intro and outro sets up and caps off
this free-wheeling swing chart. The full
ensemble will get a workout with solo
space for trombone and piano in the center
section. The back half of the chart brings
the intensity down to a soft simmer before
closing out with a bang.
11561652 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00
Lester Left Town—Wayne Shorter/arr.
Mark Taylor. Originally recorded by Art
Blakey and the Jazz Messengers in 1960,
this Wayne Shorter classic was written
in honor of Lester Young and swings
hard from beginning to end. This exciting
chart opens with the melody carried by
the trombones and tenors and closes
with a dramatic building section leading
to a powerful finish. Along the way are
inventive twists and turns, with solo space
for trombone and tenor sax.
11556726 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00
Let's Do It, Let's Fall In Love—Cole
Porter/arr. Tyler Arcari. This Cole Porter
classic gets the full swing treatment in this
new Tyler Arcari arrangement. In the "B"
section of the Tenor solo, there is a great
Trombone soli without the rhythm section
that your students will really be able to dig
into, and the ending builds to a dynamic hit
to wrap up the chart.
11615116 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00
Midnight Voyage—Joey Calderazzo/arr.
Alan Baylock. Here is an outstanding tenor
sax feature chart that was composed by
pianist Joey Calderazzo, recorded by the
late, great Michael Brecker and arranged
by Alan Baylock. A haunting medium swing
groove- tenor sax as the melody and the
solo space, and lead trumpet range is to
written high C. A beautiful tune and superb
chart on this hard-swinging feature!
