Blues & Swing | Medium Minor Meltdown—Terry White. There's nothing minor about this medium-tempo swing tune except the key. There is space for written or ad-lib solos for tenor sax and trumpet. Lots of swinging ensemble riffs weave through this sizzling chart to keep things exciting. This tune grooves hard from start to finish! 11572326 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Moanin'—Charles Mingus/arr. Andrew Homzy. Here's a playable yet very effective arrangement of this signature Mingus composition. The familiar baritone sax riff is handled by three saxes, and there is also a substantial soli for the entire saxophone section. Optional parts are included for flute, clarinet and French horn. A terrific introduction to the genius of Mingus! 10041748 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 60.00 Moon River—Henry Mancini/arr. Billy Byers. As recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra on their album This Time by Basie, Billy Byers arranged a wonderful, easy-swinging masterpiece. Cleverly, he set this Mancini classic in 4/4 to accommodate the Basie band's iconic style. This is a terrific big band chart that belongs in every library right alongside I Can't Stop Loving You, Nice 'n Easy and I Left My Heart in San Francisco. There's space for a trumpet solo, and the ensemble writing is quite playable by most bands. This is oh, so nice and highly recommended! 10530081 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Morning—Clare Fischer/arr. Mike Kamuf. A brilliant tune superbly arranged and played around 110 BPM in the Cuban-flavored guajira groove. Tenor, trumpet, guitar, and trombone initially state the melody, and it builds to a powerful shout chorus. Lead trumpet range is to written high B, and solo space is for trumpet 2, tenor 1, and trombone 1. The auxiliary percussion part is for congas and shaker. Play this chart, I promise you'll love it! (5:40) 11619664 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Mosquitoes—Monika Herzig. This high- energy calypso (or soca) original, first recorded by Sheroes, brings infectious rhythms and vibrant colors to the stage. The arrangement highlights smaller groups within the band, starting with soprano sax, muted trumpet, optional flute, and vibes. Solo transcriptions match the recording. A lively, feel-good chart! Top trumpet note: B5 11618957 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Moten Swing—Buster & Benny Moten/ arr. Ernie Wilkins. There have been a lot of published charts on this great Ernie Wilkins arrangement, but this is the original version as played and recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra. Moten Swing is possibly the most played piece of music by the Basie band and has been recorded countless times, making it a must-have for any band's library as it exemplifies wonderful roaring ensemble passages with soft, soft sections which will make your band sparkle. This new Finale edition includes a transcribed piano solo throughout, detailed rhythm section parts which are written except during the solos, and clearer, cleaner, more complete parts. Additionally, there is solo space for tenor saxophone, trumpet and piano. 2387306 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 60.00 Movin' Easy—Paul Baker. This hard- swinging chart begins with the piano stating the entire melody and offering a chance to show off the rhythm section on its own before the ensemble kicks in for the second chorus. Tenor sax and trumpet solos are provided and are based on the chord changes of Duke Ellington's classic Don't Get Around Much Anymore. A 16- bar a cappella ensemble section shows off the horns before the rhythm rejoins at the bridge to close out the chart - almost. The piano and rhythm section take us the rest of the way, a la Count Basie, to a signature ending. Trumpet range is to written high C; trombone range is to G. Bass and piano parts are written out. 11572299 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 50.00 My Man Sam (for Sammy Nestico)— Gordon Goodwin. A tribute to the late, great, brilliant arranger and composer Sammy Nestico! This medium swing chart has written or improvised solos for trumpet, alto, tenor, and trombone. Superb writing provides sweet sax solis, great dynamic contrasts, and a wonderful shout chorus. Optional parts include flute, vibes, and more. Sammy would love this chart! 11355036 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Naima—John Coltrane/arr. Craig Skeffington. One of Coltrane's favorites and played by jazz musicians everywhere, this sweet bossa chart is magical. It opens with alto 1 on the written melody, then the sax section, followed by the brass taking the bridge. Features include a very nice, written tenor solo and lead trumpet range to written B-flat above the staff. Perfect for any jazz performance, you'll be delighted with Naima! Highly recommended! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10093179 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 52.00 Nice 'n' Easy—arr. Quincy Jones. As recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra on their album This Time By Basie, this Quincy Jones chart is a laid-back, swingin' masterpiece. It's a wonderful, classic big band chart that belongs in every library right along side I Can't Stop Lovin' You and I Left My Heart in San Francisco. This chart has a catchy melody, is fun to play, and will please the band and the audience! 11400568 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 48.00 Nowhere but Here—Annie Booth. There's a funky groove with some powerful dynamic contrasts throughout this original. Played at 142 bpm, a suggested tenor 1 solo is provided, followed by an interlude that builds right into the finale. Lead trumpet range is to written B-flat above the staff. Includes the usual optional parts plus vibes and flute. (4:00) 11570905 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Oh, Lady Be Good—George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin/arr. Scott Ragsdale. A terrific Gershwin song for your female vocalist. The vocal range is from G below middle C to third-line B-flat. The lead trumpet range is to written high B-flat. This chart flows very well and will be a hit for your vocalist and the ensemble. Tempo is around 98 in cut time. Highly recommended. (3:30) 11619666 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 57.00 On Green Dolphin Street—Bronislau Kaper/arr. Dave Wolpe. Only arranger Dave Wolpe can make On Green Dolphin Street the ideal address! A combination of swing and Latin feel, suggested solos for alto 1 and tenor 1, a lead trumpet range to written A above the staff, a tasty sax soli and a hot shout chorus make this an impressive chart. Optional parts are included for flute, horn in F, baritone horn/tenor sax and tuba. It's a superb chart you will enjoy for years to come. Highly recommended! 10049712 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 52.00 One for Daddy-O—Nat Adderley/arr. Mike Tomaro. This minor blues was written by Nat Adderley for Chicago DJ, Holmes "Daddy-O" Daylie and was first heard on Cannonball Adderley's seminal album, "Somethin' Else." This well-crafted arrangement swings just like the original, and includes a flexible solo section for any soloist. Written-out bass lines and piano voicings are included as well as chord/scale sheets in all keys. Highly recommended! 10775162 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 One O'Clock Jump—Count Basie/arr. Jeff Hest. This is the original Count Basie chart, recreated by Jeff Hest. Meticulously notated with Basie's simple but timeless piano solo, transcribed solos for first and second tenors, trombone, trumpet and bass, and the mother of all Basie swinging shout choruses, this is a classic that deserves a place in every jazz ensemble's repertoire! Highly recommended! 2701974 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 60.00 Out Back of the Barn—Gerry Mulligan/ arr. Mark Taylor. What better instrument to feature on a bluesy "bump and grind" swinger like this than baritone sax? Written in a medium slow 12/8 feel, this chart will make your entire band sound great, plus allow an often neglected player to really shine. Suggested solo and scale/chord sheet provided. 10188517 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Out of the Doghouse—Erik Morales. Arranger/composer Erik Morales delivers! This outstanding shuffle chart sounds like a big old freight train coming down the tracks, and it just builds and builds! There's a wonderful section after the optional solos that features a powerful sax soli without the rhythm section, and there are great breaks for piano and drums throughout. There are also some independent bari sax lines and optional written solos for alto, tenor and guitar. The lead trumpet range is to written A above the staff and there's an optional ending with lead trumpet notes up to C. This is a hot chart! Our highest recommendation! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10068803 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Perdido—Juan Tizol/arr. Victor Lopez. Mambo! Arranger Victor Lopez has masterfully intertwined a mambo and a swing feel in this great Juan Tizol jazz classic. Featuring a fully notated tenor sax solo, lead trumpet range to written A, a brief sax soli and lots of excitement throughout, this chart is pure fun to hear and play! Don't be "lost", play Perdido! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10093181 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 52.00 Puttin' on the Ritz—Irving Berlin/arr. Chris Sharp. The Irving Berlin classic gets the Sing, Sing, Sing treatment here. Let your drummer shine on this fun romp! 11574241 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 75.00 The Queen Bee (Full Score Edition)— Sammy Nestico. The quintessential recording of this chart was captured on the 1968 album Basie Straight Ahead. Unlike many of Sammy's charts for Basie, this one starts with the saxes and rhythm section instead of the more typical piano solo. Brass will need bucket mutes to get the right color in the ensemble, and while this chart is not as fast as some, it still demands the ensemble to play at their highest level to make it swing. 11576721 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 60.00 The Queen Bee—Sammy Nestico. This chart is a relaxed moderate blues. Written for the Basie-Nestico collaboration on the album Basie Straight Ahead, it's perfect for advancing groups. It is also a great chart for your rhythm section to develop that wonderful Basie sound and feel. A must for every jazz ensemble library! 545673 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 168 2025-26 Editors' Choice New Basic Library Large Print Edition A Cappella Available via ePrint Downloadable All Prices in U.S. Dollars & Subject To Publisher Revision
