(The NINEVITES turn their backs to the audience, leaving JONAH sulking downstage.)
STORYTELLER 5: And so, all the people of Nineveh were saved.
JONAH: It's not fair. They're a bunch of weird foreigners. I wanted God to destroy
them.
STORYTELLER 6: Sorry. God cares for everyone.
STORYTELLER 5: No matter who they are.
STORYTELLER 6: No matter what they've done.
STORYTELLER 5: No matter where they're from.
STORYTELLER 6: So maybe God wants you to preach to someone new.
JONAH: You've got to be kidding.
STORYTELLER 5: And God said:
ALL: (turning to JONAH and shouting through cupped hands) Amen!
(JONAH startles and then starts to exit.)
JONAH: O.K. I'm going, I'm going!
The Story of Paul's Shipwreck
(SAILOR 1 enters with the Bible again and moves to center stage. STORYTELLERS 5 and 6
exit as STORYTELLERS 7 and 8 take their places. All other CAST MEMBERS move upstage
and sit.)
SAILOR 1: (reading) Chapter Three. The Story of Paul's Shipwreck
(SAILOR 1 exits as PAUL enters and stands center. As the STORYTELLERS speak, PAUL
repeats their lines loudly, almost stepping on the last word of each of their lines in a slightly
annoying manner.)
STORYTELLER 7: Once there was man named Paul.
