It Ain't Easy Goin' Green is a delightful trombone solo feature that honors the amazing talent of the great trombonist Urbie Green. This chart is an easygoing bossa nova with accessible parts for the band and soloist. The solo is mostly written, but there are a few places where some improv chops are necessary. Highly melodic for both the ensemble and soloist, the ranges are reasonable and the band is featured as well as the soloist. Accessible trombone solo features are rare, and it's a happy coincidence that this one is so great! Included are optional parts for flute, clarinet, horn in F and tuba. 10427257 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 60.00 Just When I'm Thinkin' 'bout You— Rob Vuono. Beautifully written in a slow swing style, this impressive swing ballad is an excellent showcase for your lead trombone player. Rob keeps the ranges modest throughout, yet achieves a most sophisticated sound by way of a well- crafted melody, paired with a distinctive set of chord changes and well-written ensembles. The solo is accessible and melodic, plus there is terrific ensemble writing for the full ensemble. The rhythm section parts are fully notated along with chord changes to ensure success. Dave Wolpe. Bass trombone players can count on one hand the good charts available for their instrument. Well, here is one of the best yet arranged by Dave Wolpe in the style of the great George Roberts. With a medium-swing feel, this showcase will bring out the best in your bass trombone player with no improvisation, just written melody. There is some written or improvised jazz for 2nd trumpet in harmon mute, and the lead trumpet has a unison line to written high E. A nice sax soli is the icing on the cake. An outstanding feature chart! 10071915 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . MA 55.00 l Ruby, My Dear—Thelonious Monk/ arr. John Fedchock. John Fedchock's chart on this Monk classic is an all-out trombone solo feature, though it also showcases the band's restraint and ability to shift dynamically between piano and fortissimo. The sophisticated harmonies and sensitive voicings make this work a colorful challenge for the jazz ensemble's sense of blend and balance. Great chart, John! 10458192 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . MA 75.00 Secret Love—Sammy Fain/arr. Dave Wolpe. Featuring the trombone section, Dave Wolpe's chart on Secret Love just cooks and cooks! All four trombone parts have written-out solo sections, there's plenty of section work and nice ensembles too. The lead 'bone range is to high Bb and lead trumpet is to written B above the staff. This is an accessible and terrific chart to showcase your trombones. Highly recommended! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10071747 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 50.00 H Spring Can Really Hang You up the Most—Tommy Wolf/arr. Kris Berg. Here's an outstanding Kenton-style ballad that showcases the lead trombone and the trombone section. The chart builds during a 12/8 section that makes it an even stronger choice as an excellent ballad feature. There are no improvised solos and lead trumpet range is to written C above the staff with an optional D sharp. This one is a wonderful jazz ballad with a twist! 10011988 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . MA 55.00 H Summer Never Ends—Bill Liston. Wow, here's a funk ballad that features your trombone soloist with a completely notated solo along with provided changes. The solo part floats over the band and remains legato against the band's funk grooves. An optional, extended improvisation section for the trombone soloist is included. If you're looking for something different for a solo feature... this is it! 10068876 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 52.00 That Rainy Day Feeling—Les Aldrich. That Rainy Day Feeling is a super rock ballad solo feature for either Tenor Sax or Trumpet/Flugelhorn. The ranges are modest and the solidly scored backgrounds will give the soloist a comfortable setting for their efforts. The exceptionally nice chord changes make this chart sound more advanced than it is and will guarantee that your group will sound great! Arranged for flexibility, it's a beautiful solo feature for C instruments, alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet or trombone with all the solo parts included. The tempo is easy at 138 bpm and the style is a mellow straight-eighth groove. The lead trumpet range goes only to written F-sharp on the top line and flugelhorns are preferred for the trumpet section if possible. Everlasting is very accessible as a solo feature and has a gorgeous melody! 10355588 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . MA 65.00 Gentle Rain—Luiz Bonfa/arr. Kris Berg. A wonderful tune with rich textures and voicings, Gentle Rain is a solo vehicle for C, B-flat, E-flat or bass clef instruments and is especially nice for flute or vibes. This Carl Strommen ballad is written as an alto sax solo feature, but also includes solo parts to allow a trumpet or trombone to play the solo part. This classy rock ballad allows you to feature one of your best players and provide a delightful change of pace to any performance.
