JAMES MONTGOMERY: (writing, speaking aloud over Measures 1 – 4) "Shep- herds in the field abiding, watching o'er your flocks by night, God with man is now residing; yonder shines the Infant Light!" CHOIR: (singing) GLORIA, GLORIA, GLORIA, GLORIA, GLORIA GLORY TO GOD! CHARLES WESLEY: (writing, speaking aloud over Measures 11 – 14) "Hail, the heav'n-born Prince of Peace! Hail, the Sun of Righteousness! Light and life to all He brings, ris'n with healing in His wings." CHOIR: (singing) GLORIA, GLORIA, GLORIA, GLORIA, GLORIA GLORY TO GOD! (Now both MONTGOMERY and WESLEY write and speak aloud, rapidly interchanging, over Measures 21 – 24.) JAMES MONTGOMERY: "Come and worship!" CHARLES WESLEY: "Hark! the herald angels sing!" JAMES MONTGOMERY: "Worship Christ…" CHARLES WESLEY: "Glory to…" MONTGOMERY & WESLEY: (unison) "…the newborn King!" CHOIR: (singing) GLORY TO THE NEWBORN KING! (MONTGOMERY and WESLEY return to writing as their lights fade out [or they slowly exit from the stage]. KYLE stands with his caroling book, moving forward. He speaks aloud over Measures 28 – 31.) KYLE: I guess you never know what voice you have until you use it. Okay, Mr. Montgomery, Master Wesley. (he takes a big breath) I'm game. And… (And using his caroling book, KYLE sings the three carols in "Glory to the Newborn King" along with the choir and audience as the full lights come up on the choir.) CHOIR, AUDIENCE & KYLE: (singing) ANGELS FROM THE REALMS OF GLORY WING YOUR FLIGHT O'ER ALL THE EARTH, etc. (At the conclusion of "Glory to the Newborn King" the lights dim on the choir as KYLE moves back to the trunk. He is still very much in the carol- ing spirit as he leafs through the book.) KYLE: (humming, then singing) Dum… dum… dum… dum… And heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature (dramatically) siii- iiiing… (turning the page) 121 For Preview Only
